See, we are not that far apart.

If the word “marriage“ is so important to religious folks, I have no problem whatsoever giving it to them.

Strip it from every statute and every case, and replace it with “civil union“ in the context of the conference of legal rights. To me, it is the matter of “equal treatment under the law” that matters, not the semantics.

Similar but the semantics matter for sure imo, as it was a specific attack to "check mate" Christians.

BTW I added the below to my post...

Ohhh and to add on the Marriage thing...as an American that believes in States Rights, I do not like the fact that CA voted against it and the gay mafia took it to SCOTUS and then it made it national law. I don't want to hear anything about the "sanctity of the vote" from any leftie that supports gay marriage nationally when they support the way it happened.

come down off your high horse. i've seen you go to far extremes and insult people for disagreeing with you. you called me literally "one of the worst parents you've ever heard of" because i stood outside and let my 3 year old go into a women's bathroom by herself while i waited outside. never mind pedophiles, drug addicts, prostitutes, abusers, etc. I'm one of the worst over a bathroom. you do the same with focusing on the fringe. you're no better.

i'm probably the only poster on this board who actually likes both Hank and T-bird. can you link the thread?

nope - I LOVE T-Bird (but have not seen much of him lately - I must be zigging when he is zagging)
- I WANT to love Aggie - and I see a lot of him here. I think he is able to make great points and is THE only one of the "opposite" political view who even attempts to make rational statements and stay with a topic under discussion. I respect him highly for that.

You have also said draq queens were harmless and there was a clear difference between them and transgender. Both are lies. But hey lies are the aggiehank way.

Do I need to embarrass you again by linking to the posts that you are misrepresenting? Like here, where I said that STORY HOUR is harmless, and NOT that drag queens are all harmless. Or here, where I said that there is "very little overlap" between transgenders and drag performers.

Repeating your little fictions will not make them become truths, my friend. No matter how many times you stomp your foot and leave in a huff.

The only embarrassment has been you. Everyone has seen your post and mine and they know I speak the truth. You're just pissed because a gay man stood up against your drag queen agenda and the nonsense you spoke like it was fact. Have a good day.

Forgive me for jumping into this discussion based solely on this post. I dont pretend to know the context or the gist of the preceding arguments.

BUT ====> " If the word “marriage“ is so important to religious folks" is a statement that carries a lot of implication wrt the crap that has been going on for the past few decades.

"Marriage" is not a purely religious word. It is a word that evolved thru the development of civilizations to describe a certain relationship between a man and a woman which was seen as vital for the continuation of the species.

Yes - religious sects have their own additional strictures about the conduct of who/what constitutes a 'marriage' wrt their its own tenets. BUT - being 'married' always implied one thing - and one thing ONLY to the irreligious as well as the religious. It was a manner of a man and woman living together where the PRiMARY responsibility was for the betterment of their CHILDREN - and hence the advancement of CIVILIZATiON.

Marriage was NEVER a license to shack up - or play around with personal fetishes - or pretend to be what you are not - or 'qualify for a tax break' - or any of the other shite that 'modern life' has used it for.

SURE - the idea of marriage CAN be diluted by the conduct of the people who CLAIM to be 'married'

NOW = MY own personal view is that IF homosexual unions want to be accepted without scorn as a useful - to them - way to live their lives, so be it. I don't give a shite what they do.

BUT - if they want to gain BENEFITS of 'marriage' - like tax breaks for instance - they should describe what BENEFIT they bring to the COUNTRY who is paying the bill for their deduction.
(yep, I understand there are heterosexual couples who dont contribute to societal advance, and IF there are a way to easily discern they were 'married' for that 'benefit' I'd gladly have them forfeit the benefit.)

SO - my contention is that homosexual unions need to get their intellect together and come up with some other name for their co-habitation status so that we don't have to go back and restructure the entire LANGUAGE to accommodate THEIR fetish.

To me LANGUAGE is sacred - we all arrive at some form of understanding the world around us based on what we have witnessed with our eyes and heard from our interpretation of the LANGUAGE our 'teachers' have used.

I just HATE this modern tactic of going in and changing the DEFINITION of long establish WORDs to mean something that makes EVERYONE have to continually REEVALUATE their basic understanding of what is being discussed.

MUCH mischief results from getting LEGISLATION enacted by someone who slips some misunderstood definition of words into it.

Be up front with what you want to discuss and discuss THAT - no need to reevaluate tens of thousands of language every other week to satisfy some new whim by another 20-something year old misfit.
