How do we know that happened and if he was armed?
Bin Laden wasn't armed. The SEALS admitted to that. We also did not tell Pakistan we were going to enter their country, put boots on the ground, and kill their people. But nobody questions it because it was Bin Laden, and it was a boost for Obama's reelection.
I have no issue with the Bin Laden raid, but also have no issue with going after cartels. But for whatever reason, some on this board see a difference between the two, and we all know the difference is their TDS.

Reminds me of the 90s when the Clinton administration, and the Obama too. wanted to treat Muslim terrorism as merely a criminal issue, not recognizing it as a global jihad.

Nah, just wiser than you and able to understand the difference between an actual terrorist kingpin vs run of the mill drug runners.

Citation needed. Where does it say we can't kill foreign drug dealers in the Constitution?

It’s only been a war for a like 2 months. The past 4 decades were a law enforcement action that failed miserably.

And I can’t understand how anyone still believes a massive Navy flotilla is ferrying in the Caribbean to simply play whack-a-mole with drug running speed boats.
So I guess that works itself out in the wash.

Drugrunners = Narcoterrorists
Nope. They’re just drug runners for the most part. But we can still kill them. I don’t know why we need to rename them just to kill a threat to the American people

60 years and trillions of dollars.
It still dont work. Prohibition didnt work in the 1920s, it doesnt work in the 2020s.
Its just that some of yall didnt learn anything from it.

We are still doing that quite often, just as it was done in the past. We, in all likelihood, do that to many more boats than we blow up. The USCG posts about interdictions all the time.
It is just that blowing up shite gets a whole lot more attention.

In future wars will we just arrest the enemy and bring them to a liberal Judge?
We don't have to wait for the future, we are doing that now.

It appears we have learned. Instead of conducting a law enforcement operation and attempting prohibition like we did in the 20’s we’re actually starting to kill people funneling poison into our country.
My only problem is that we’re only focusing on Venezuela for the moment. I’d like to see this lethal war expanded to Mexican cartels and the Chinese crime gangs shipping drugs into the USA.

You don't think our Coast Guard couldn't arrest them when they got in US waters?

Right. To me, this is how we should handle it.

It’s a real war now. We don’t send in the military to arrest people. You think the Seals went into Pakistan to arrest Bin Laden? There was never even a plan to take him alive.

Why wait that long? Don't let them get that close. Stop them as near the source as possible.

I’m in support of killing these MFers BUT….only congress can declare war and they have not done it so bombing these guys illegal. We killed terrorists in the same way but war was actually declared…

frick all that. The only thing we should be seizing from the cartels is their money. All the product can be sent to the bottom of the ocean as far as I’m concerned.

Please explain what “rights” a criminal operating in international waters on an unflagged vessel enjoys under American law. This I want to hear.

If we want to capture them for interrogation and intelligence reasons then fine. But it’s doubtful that the low level drug runners on the speed boats know anything of real value so their lives aren’t really worth much.
