Not really worried about the parts if they shipped UPS; they must not be that secret. However, how the frick did they know?

This is very unbelievable that ups would be shipping highly sensitive parts with top secret material on them.
C’mon MF’ers, really?

At least two congressional committees are investigating how the parts fell into Chinese hands.
Probably the same Congress members who got their pockets greased to "accidentally" divert modern aerial technology directly into the hands of the CCP.

Are we for some reason pretending that China doesn't already have access to all specs and information a 10 year old aircraft?
We seemingly have peopled busted every week for spying and selling our secrets and sadly those are only the ones that are caught.

I know wings and large fuselage components are shipped to countries. They are not done with military transports.
The coatings on the doors and canopy will peak the interest of the Chinese for sure.
This had to be somebody or people doing this on purpose.

Canada not only started this shite but they've escalated every single time. You now have Carney warning Canada of an invasion...at this point I think we should oblige him...but they are completely at fault for this "trade war" you disingenuous frickl

Why the frick would they be shipping something of highly sensitive national security importance via UPS and not putting it on the next military transport plane flying to the US from Australia?

aint Trumps fault my friend! DJT is in the process of alienating these chithole countries....Venezuela, Cuba, Canada.....and so on.

No one cares about the parts, it's the radar absorbing coating that is the problem - maybe. This could also be a trap. Technology changes. One of my professors told a story about his dad during WWII. At the time, 30 MHz was considered a state of the art high frequency that would only travel line of sight. The Germans didn't know that it also bounced off the ionosphere. His dad was a ham radio operator in Minneapolis and was able to receive these new radio transmissions at his home that were broadcast from Rommel in North Africa. He called the Army and they came over with an interpreter and found the communication was not coded because the Germans thought the frequency was safe.
Something similar could occur with radar absorbing materials. Technology is changing and high frequencies are easier and easier to use. Conventional radar is in the 12 GHz to 80 GHz range. I have designed radars at 24 GHz and 80 GHz. This range a material could be very effective absorbing the radar signal, but light up like a flare at 300 GHz. Wouldn't it be cool to get a potential enemy to paint all of his aircraft with something that literally shines at the frequency your new radar operates at? How would you get them to do something like that? Maybe ship them a sample by UPS?

Aussie Defense News
The owner of a logistics company previously involved in F-35 freight projects, and reported to have diverted a shipment of classified F-35 parts to Hong Kong, recently partnered with a firm blacklisted for its ties to the Chinese military.
This development, which has not been previously reported, comes after Defence Minister Richard Marles played down concerns that the Chinese military has gained access to classified technology on Australian F-35 fighter jets. US outlet Bloomberg has this morning reported that the Chinese government has taken control of the parts.
As ADM reported on Monday, the shipment of F-35 components from Australia was bound for the United States for repairs before it was unexpectedly rerouted to Hong Kong and disappeared.
Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China.
First reported in Politico, the shipment reportedly included an F-35 canopy, which is covered in a sensitive radar-absorbent material that degrades over time and requires subsequent repair or replacement.
Defence Minister Richard Marles said on Tuesday that the missing parts are ‘not sensitive’, although prior generations of radar-resistant canopy materials, such as gold film used to reduce the canopy radar signature on older generations of fighter jets, were classified.
According to The Nightly, citing unnamed defence industry figures, the intermediary company involved in shipping the parts on behalf of jet manufacturer Lockheed Martin was CEVA Logistics. However Bloomberg, citing people briefed on the incident, has reported the carrier was UPS.
ADM understands that CEVA Logistics is the primary logistics provider for Lockheed Martin and has its own distribution contracts with companies like UPS.
In a statement, CEVA Logistics said: “CEVA Logistics has not been contacted by any customer, regulator, audit agency, or government authority concerning these alleged activities. We are not aware of any facts indicating that CEVA Logistics had any involvement in the matter described.”
CEVA Logistics, which has previously transported F-35 parts, operates storage facilities at RAAF Base Williamtown, where Australian F-35s are serviced, and is a fully owned subsidiary of CMA CGM Group, a French logistics company. It is not clear whether the missing parts were shipped from Williamtown.
Approximately one third of CMA CGM Group’s operating revenue comes from China, according to comments made by the CMA GGM chairman in a meeting with the Chinese consul in Marseille last year, as cited by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website.
On August 28, CMA CGM signed a strategic framework agreement with China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which is owned by the Chinese government.
Under the agreement, CMA CGM can provide shipping solutions for major Chinese infrastructure developments in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
CCCC has been identified as a Chinese military company on the US government’s Entity List since 2021 for its role in building military outposts in the South China Sea.
In November 2020, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order forbidding Americans from owning shares in CCCC due to its links to the Chinese military.
CCCC was also debarred by the World Bank in 2007 for involvement in corruption scandals in the Philippines. The company later faced money laundering charges in Kuwait for funds routed there through Hong Kong as part of Malaysia’s enormous 1MDB scandal.
It is not known why the shipment of Australian F-35 parts was diverted to Hong Kong, or whether CEVA Logistics, which has previously won an award for its participation in the F-35 Transport Team, was responsible for this specific shipment. The company statement is clear that it has not been contacted about the matter.
The F-35 program has long been a target for Chinese intelligence agencies. The acquisition of a F-35 canopy might allow China to copy the radar-resistant design on its own fleet of advanced fighter aircraft, or validate the quality of existing intelligence sources that may have previously supplied it with information on the jets.
Updated 24 Sep, 7.40 pm to include the following statement from CEVA Logistics:
“CEVA Logistics has not been contacted by any customer, regulator, audit agency, or government authority concerning these alleged activities. We are not aware of any facts indicating that CEVA Logistics had any involvement in the matter described.”

That story doesn't jive. I have a hard time believing that anything military that is as classified such as the F35 is being shipped through a private mail carrier.
But what do I know......

Do you have any idea of the size of the Military Industrial Complex and how may vendors feed off it? Do you have any idea of the challenges involved in operating a worldwide logistics and delivery network? I can only imagine how much larger the $40 trillion US debt would be if we let the federal government bear that burden. The USPS has a monopoly on mail delivery and posts multi-billion dollar losses annually.

While China and Russia claim to have stealth aircraft their aircraft are not really stealth, not like ours. Their radar signature is quite large as compared to ours. Now they have part of the technology that reduces our radar signature to basically nothing. There is no way in hell they are returning it, maybe after they reverse engineer it. This is a huge blunder and shite should hit the fan for it.

We are sending top secret stealth parts with UPS? This smells like bull shite
"Government agencies and defense contractors cannot simply drop a classified package off at a standard UPS Store or a public drop box. Transport must happen through the Next Generation Delivery Services (NGDS) program, a mandatory-use government contract managed by the DoD and USTRANSCOM. This contract ensures that the carrier complies with required security oversight, tracking mechanisms, and chain-of-custody procedures"
Obviously, there was a screw up but UPS does deliver sensitive docs and items
