Please cite all the examples of the federal marshal service enforcing state and city laws?

You’re right, the general stupidity of this board is amazing.

My problem is with all the so called conservatives on this board that want to throw out the constitution and have the US Army policing their streets.

You should do more research on what is exactly happening…. besides , I haven’t seen any violations of constitutional rights by the NG. Instead, they are allowing the locals to focus on their policing activities.

Luckily Trump isn’t as stupid as you are.

Luckily I have a sense of humor, and my "tongue-in-cheek detector" isn't broken.

We seriously need a sarcasm font and a facetious font on this site.

How are we squaring this with Federalism? I am at odds. We generally defer to the State unless the federal government is explicitly granted the powers they seek to enforce.

Trump has stated he doesn’t have the authority to send National Guard to other cities unless the mayor/governor asks for assistance.

He had the authority in DC because it’s a federal district

Trump should say “fine” and let them continue to get what they voted for.

Exactly. Help those who want help. Clean up the cities and let the rest of the country see how it could/supposed to be done. The voters will show their support in the end. Blue strong holds start turning red.

DO NOT WANT the NG federalized and deployed to cities. DC is a special case as it's federal territory. This is a precedent we don't want to set.

Are you naive enough to believe liberals would only do this if GOP does it first?

The 14th amendment ended states’ rights. Trump could argue the state is depriving citizens of the United States of their life, liberty, and or property with all the rampant crime and he has to do something about it.

If states had the right to enforce laws for the last 50 years without being sued by the DOJ back to the Stone Age, this wouldn't be needed.

He does realize that Federal Agents don’t answer to him right? He can say anything he wants but they abide by the procedures delineated by their respective agencies and federal law.

None so far. Unless of course you want the president of the United States to deploy the army to police the streets. We should probably go ahead and require private citizens to give up their property to house the policing soldiers while we’re busy throwing out the constitution.

So states and municipalities have a God-given right to turn their communities into crime-infested shitholes? Since when? And who’s proposed quartering troops in private homes, other than you?

I'm torn by letting established municipalities govern themselves as they see fit vs federal intervention, to prevent citizens of that city from harm, because officials refuse to do their duty to protect them.

Do you have a link for that?

Not doubting you, but I'd like to see the actual statement and context.

He'd lose that argument. Because the part you left out of the 14th amendment is the next part where it says, "without due process."

Which clearly means that the purpose of the amendment is to prevent states from actively depriving citizens of the rights sans due process by the direct action of the state, not by failing to create enough of an environment in which they can be pursued as freely as one might want.

Nah, I think Trump has the ability due to long standing precedent to send in the Guard where states are violating federal law, like they did in the 50s and 60s when states were ignoring the Brown v Board decision and the Civil Rights Act. And he's got some opportunity to do that with the way many cities and states are violating federal immigration law.

Other than that, I think he's got to be invited.
