Love the paint scheme.

Assuming this is the Qatari bird? Are they still putting in all of the security, comms, and defensive pieces or is it ready to enter service?

After 35 Years, Air Force One's “Last Ride” Sparks Confusion Over Retirement

Has one of the world's most iconic aircraft just completed its final presidential mission?

The Boeing VC-25A (tail number 29000), better known as Air Force One when carrying the President, returned from the G7 summit this week before White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a photo of the aircraft with the caption: “The Last Ride.” He later added, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

The emotional tribute quickly led many to believe the famous Boeing 747 had been retired after more than 35 years of service dating back to the administration of George H. W. Bush.

However, the aircraft is not being retired immediately.

While this may have been one of the jet's final high-profile missions as the primary Air Force One, the U.S. Air Force has confirmed that both VC-25A aircraft will remain in service for now as the presidential fleet transitions to newer aircraft. The modified Boeing 747-8 "Bridge" aircraft is expected to enter service later this year, while the long-delayed VC-25B replacements are not expected until at least 2027–2028.

For now, the legendary aircraft that has carried six presidents appears set to continue flying, even if its days as the primary face of Air Force One are coming to an end.

I know nothing about airplanes or AF1.

Looks nice to me, though.

NEW: U.S government retires Air Force One SAM 29000, one of the VC-25A Presidential aircraft, after 40 years of service.

It is understood that 28000 will continue flying with the VC-25B Bridge aircraft when it comes into service.

The VC-25B Bridge aircraft (a Boeing 747-8 gifted by Qatar) finished modifications and flight testing in May 2026. It is on track for delivery by summer 2026 to serve as interim presidential transport.

That's a beautiful aircraft. But I don't see President Trump's photo on it...

Careful now! There are Ole Miss fans that stumble by this board who think their powder blue jerseys are splendid! Your remark could trigger them.

if it's true to say, "you learn something new everyday", you just learned all Boeing jets are built in the USA.
