I'm not sure about the death tax, but they're on board for some of the others. There's a lot of pressure on the governor to approve the hikes.

The Senate and Assembly’s budget proposals include many of the mayor’s desired revenue-raisers and give the city a larger cut of state funds.

Well, this is one way to drive down housing prices in NYC..

Instead of leaving houses for their heirs, people will start leaving NY and coming to FL, TX, NC, and even upstate NY, when they retire.

I would expect Mamdani will look to tax real estate proceeds next, in order to get money from the folks who try to sell before they die.

When you die, Democrats believe that the Government has more right to your private property than your family.

Mamdani's Democratic Socialist (not so closet Communist) policies really know how to turn NYC into a place where the most productive flee.

I hope the good people in NYC get out and take their money and talent elsewhere. Then we should wall up NYC and turn it into John Carpenter’s prison camp.

Mamdani’s limo is waiting…

If enacted, that estate tax will chase every rich person out of the city.

Easy to vote for stuff like this when you don't produce anything as a citizen.

Check out the line item above the inheritance tax that will raise 12billion.

"bringing capital gains tax in line with feds" actually means taxing the same rate as the feds, a duplicate tax for the same thing. I guess if he called it what it is an "exit tax" to hammer your arse when you sell your house to get out of NYC.

That will end NYC

Weird factoid

As high as 50% maybe a little higher of luxury NYC apartments are owned but unoccupied

They are used as ghost storage for global wealth

Heck, give me wide open spaces and the occasional arrogant country guy who knows and appreciates what he does for a living. So he only eats beef he produced on his own land, so he cuts hay five times a year (Texas), so he keeps his fences up and tree free to increase hay yields.

My city slicker (NYC, then Boston, now D.C. ) BIL came to visit, looked out in a field of young steers whose destiny is meat and he said, mimicking a southern drawl, " Guess it's time to go out and milk them cattle."

We smiled and didn't correct him. He lives in D.C., after all, and they know it all.

The Left’s dirty little secret:

Utopia really doesn’t come cost-free.

If you can’t round up enough billionaires to “pay their fair share” and cover the bill in perpetuity…..then others are going to have to pick up the tab.

Well a time comes where you have to cut your losses. That time is now for those people living in NYC.

When the left make changes to taxes, or add new taxes, they always assume 100% compliance. Nobody will make any moves to avoid the taxation.

The reality is people will use loopholes and people will move. Even diehard leftist voters will avoid the taxation, after voting for the a-hole(s) who are taxing them.
