However, I want Mamdani to win and:
-rich people leave NYC
-he taxes the shite outta everyone there, defunds the police, etc.

Those rich people will be fleeing to TX and FL and bringing their progressive voting habits with them. This already happened when California liberals made Colorado perma-blue and have turned Arizona into a consistent purple.

Is that really what you want? There's not really a silver lining here.

I don't live in the city and if I did I would vote for Cuomo or Sliwa. Please link to post where I say I will be giddy if Mandani wins?

What is interesting about this is that Elon's Xweet has 100% been Community Noted, but for some reason the note just won't show up under his post.

Interesting.

I am not one of those people who blows a gasket about having to show an ID. The argument about how you need one to get on a plane and so on makes a lot of sense.

But it's not quite so cut and dry. You do have to show ID when you register, maybe that is enough? If it were not enough how would people vote from overseas or while in the military or working at an embassy?

Also it is tough to get an idea in some places if you are certain living situations like homelessness (no ID if you do not have a permanent address and shelters don't count) or if you are in a hospital outside of your regular area of residence on election day. Not sure about nursing homes and where they are registered (or if they are).

2. Parties in NY sometimes cross promote. Been like this forever.

3. Cuomo is last because the party he is running from/for is the newest one.

I am 90 percent certain that last time Trump was on two lines too, Republican and Conservative. But that is from memory. Sometimes a semi-active anti-abortion party fields a candidate, if so they usually promote the GOP guy too.

I don't know about the other claims, but being able to appear multiple times on a single ballot seems like it would be a problem. A candidate should be able to run under only a single party's candidacy. Other parties can support them, but not fielding their own candidate should not equate to a single person getting multiple slots (Sliwa is on their twice as well, ftr).

Cumom’s name is so hidden I was looking directly for it and my eyes went past it twice then searched the bottom of ballot.

I know he’s polling strong but in this case is a minor party nominee.

So, I’m not a huge fan of this, but here’s why I think they do it and it probably doesn’t matter.

They organize their ballots by party nominations and races. So you observe horizontal lines are the races, vertical lines down are the parties.

There are 4 historical, major parties with nominations in multiple races. So going down in four lines you see their candidates for each race.

Why?

Well, this enables party line voting. Maybe you like or don’t like that, but that’s one reason you might do that.

The minor party/independents who are running candidates for just one office are grouped on the back end. Probably harmless here because it’s not hard to find Cuomo.

For experienced NYC voters, this is a ballot they’d be used to and the expect. Voters who want Cuomo will be looking for him where his name appears.

It’s also just not hidden. If you’ve been voting in NYC that’s exactly where you’d expect him to be. Why would his name be up and to the left? He’s an independent.

That’s a long winded answer to a really simple question. Your answer should’ve been “That would bother me if they didn’t actually require me to have a valid id to vote.”

So tell us there is more to this story. Or tell us that the NYC voter web page is lying. Or tell us you are the one who is lying:

Voter ID

Registered voters do not need to show ID to vote, unless they did not provide identification with their registration.

First time voters must provide identification either on or with their voter registration application.

So *maybe* you had to show an ID because you did not provide identification with your registration, or you registered on voting day.

But that is not the same as an unequivocal, unqualified " ID IS required."

So who's the liar?
