What amount of black is needed to qualify?

Is Chuck planning on dying soon? Why not give the money now
Giving $5 million to Auburn 25 years from now what a hero

Apparently he doesn’t have faith that black students are capable of earning places at Auburn, since all the SCOTUS decision did was state race cannot be considered for admission decisions.
Or perhaps he's just not ignorant to redlining school districts/funding and calling it "fair" like others that are either willfully or woefully ignorant on the matter.

Litmus test is to replace word black with white and see what results. Sir Charles is a gem but what he is doing is the definition of racism. Rich white guy would not be allowed to do same thing for poor white kids. It’s a double standard in our society and if you are being intellectually honest it has been that way for decades if not longer.
Maybe Charles can give all 5 million to just one family. Like Henry Ruggs did.

he reason Auburn has only 5% is because almost every black student who is up to Auburn standards gets recruited by Harvard et al. And we end up with 13% black enrollment at Harvard, most of whom can’t do the course work but get socially promoted; and we have Auburn deprived of the students who could thrive there.
Black students, probably partly because of this, have been choosing to segregate themselves into HBCUs
That's really interesting. Have there been studies on that? I'd like to read them.
Looking at the link you provided, it looks like there even exists a large disparity among the Ivy schools.
I've lived or visited a good portion of the south and had always been curious as to how one rural town could be entirely white and go 4 miles down the road and the small town is entirely black.
I didn't grow up around it in the Northwest. Our communities are largely white and Hispanic and everyone gets along and have for decades.
I have read about some of the HBCUs and students that voluntarily self segregate. So Harvard and others are essentially targeting any traditionally qualified candidates that Auburn may take? I did see that Alabama is around 11% black. Is that because of admission differences or is Auburn seen as the old money white school, which I noticed when I saw their frats up close. No judgement, just my interpretation.
UGA is also really low, surprisingly, considering the large middle and upper income black population around Atlanta, or is it the same situation as Auburn?

No problem with him doing this. If race is going to be a factor in college admissions at all, this is one positive way to do it.

I have no problem with him doing this, but it’s really now unconstitutional on its face, and maybe a grant to deserving candidates that meet the acceptance hurdle, could be an exclusion. Also the historic black colleges could be an issue with this ruling…

Your point is not wrong. I think private money should be able to put whatever qualifiers as they see fit without retribution or being targeted.

It's his money I don't see anything wrong with this
I don't think there's anything wrong with it on his end, but there may be something wrong with it on Auburn's end.
I say that because a friend of my Dad's who had no children but lots of money wanted to leave Auburn money to provide a scholarship but wouldn't do it because he wanted to stipulate that it couldn't go to a black student and they refused that stipulation.
If you can stipulate that your money go to a black student only, it seems discriminatory to not allow stipulations specifying other races.

Wonder if there is a white scholarship only program?

For some reason I thought he was already dead. Maybe it's Akon. I can't keep up with all the human blights on society.

It's for someone on the margins with 2.5 HS GPA and average to below average test scores who has a real desire to get in the room with good professors at a state school.
How is someone with a 2.5 GPA on the margins at a state school like Auburn? If they average test scores they should have higher HS GPA's.

Agree with "his money"... he can do what he wants.
I've heard him talk about helping small businesses of all races.

Just a thought at the time. I'm saying, the bottom 10% of kids accepted to Auburn from in state.

Hopefully this will curb his appetite for gambling away so much damn money.
Good on him.

He will probably be broke when he dies.

Can't take it with him, but I'm betting Chuck isn't as dumb as you think.
