If women left the workforce and went back to tend to their homes and raising families, there would be no such thing as an HR department anywhere?

I have been getting daily spam emails at work from some kind of HR trainer company, that seem to come back even after unsubscribing. They are all focused around workplace harassment training or trans inclusive training, etc.

Effectively.

They are pretty much jobs made to be filled by women to deal with complaints raised by women.

Back in the 50s and 60s the HR role was just another dude you played golf and had 3-martini lunches with.

Then Karen took over with her HR degree and SHRM certification to ruin the party.

My wife (no pics) works in HR for a construction company that, as one would imagine, employs mostly men. She says that the only complaints they get from the men are about the women working in the office. No drama on jobsites or otherwise. She said that the only drama at their company is solely from the women that make up maybe 1% of the employees.

HR in 2023

Employee relations 10%
Salaries and benefits 12%
Diversity and inclusion (social BS) 78%

Just like the education sector, thr radicals took over and now drive the bus.

My career was in healthcare and as frustrating as HR could be, they managed hundreds if not thousands of job descriptions, did salary surveys almost continuously so that some tech wouldn't go down the street for $.10 more per hour, grievances, equal employment, Visas (mostly H1B), manager training workshops, rah, rah, touchy feely sessions to make everyone feel good about themselves so I should be able to change your mind but that's not possible. In healthcare there are at least as many women as men and salary/wages are pretty much set regardless of sex. Promotions and such can get to be a bit of a challenge (as in so and so should have gotten it over so and so) but the salary is not negotiable except for upper management.

Probably one of the best episodes of The Office was about Toby's complaint box where people would come and complain and he'd just stick it in a cardboard box.

Work with a bunch of women. They cause all the problems in the office. They don’t get along, stab each other in the back every chance they get and talk shite about one another non stop. Always issues.

I don't recall HR existing in the 50s and 60s. We had something called the Personnel Dept. I don't know why these titles keep changing. I used to have a GP (General Practitioner). Now I've got a Primary Care Physician. I haven't noticed any difference in what they do.

They're always cold.

There's a bitch in my office that is contstantly putting the heat on 72+. Say's she just knocking the chill out of the air. She's fat as hell too, so I don't understand how she can be cold.

They are Purity testers. Those that follow the Orthodoxy are rewarded and those that do not are punished. That's their job.

I’ll never understand companies that hire an entire department dedicated to getting employees fired.

Eh.

Someone I know is a director of HR at a company that is about 95% men

Its certainly easier in a lot of ways than with a company with a ton of women, but men do some really stupid shite too she has to deal with regularly.

A good HR Department is dedicated to stopping them from getting sued and saving the company money
