CBS tells their NFL announcers to shut up and commentate on sports

What happens on the field will be discussed by CBS announcers. What isn’t happening on the field will not be. Almost like it should be.
First reported by Forbes, CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus gave his broadcasting team clear directives to not introject personal opinions on Black Lives Matter, kneeling, social justice of any kind during the broadcast.
“Our announcers on site at the games are not gonna condone, they’re not gonna condemn what’s going on,’ McManus said. “They’re going to report it and they’re going to move on.
“We need to thread the needle just the right way, because there are people who are tuning in just to hear about football. So we need to make sure that we don’t overdo the emphasis on what’s going on in our country, but we’re not gonna ignore it.”
Like many instances when sudden change happens, it is driven by the data.
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans to open the season. They NFL lost in a big way in the ratings.
The game scored a 5.2 rating among adults 18-49 with 16.4 million viewers between 8-11 p.m. ET. While the number will adjust some upward later to 11:30 p.m., it represented a 16.1% drop.
It was the lowest opening night in 10 years.

They're still going to show the kneeling and talk about social justice, but just not state their opinions on it?
Lol okay. Still won't be watching.

Kudos to McManus. Maybe the other shite networks that have preached from their pulpits will take heed - if it isn't too late.

A good start. As a longtime supporter of the nfl my relationship with them has been seriously damaged. Nothing short of fines and penalties for any player disrespecting the flag or country will get my spending and attention back.

$ drives everything. Folks are tired of the BLM shite.

Sean McManus is the son of famed ABC sports guy, Jim McManus, better known as Jim McKay. McKay was a big time liberal so his son may be taking orders from above at CBS.

I appreciate that stance, but my problem is with the NFL, not CBS.

They would have to come out and say they completely reject BLM and all who disrespect our country and flag, and fire any players who don't comply, before I'd give them a shot again. Even if they simply stopped kneeling today, I won't watch again until all current players who participated are gone from the league completely.

I have a feeling ESPN is going to go the complete opposite direction.

How are they not going to comment on the giant end zone virtue signals? Or the blm names on the helmets or any of that subversive bullshite? They are playing the drew brees game of straddling both sides and passing off everyone.

Wait, I thought the left said ratings were high.
Honestly I expected a lot of people to tune in, especially non-football fans out of curiosity knowing there was going to be some kind of protest. I was thinking it would be akin to staring at an accident on the highway. Just too hard to look away.
I predict that ratings will dip even further as the season progresses, fans get pissed and the curiosity wears off.

This is what panic mode looks like, they bought these multi billion dollar game packages on thin margins, a 20% drop and they're looking at bankruptcy.
It's time to ratchet up the pressure

Why do you think CBS is telling their announcers to play Ostrich?
Their only worry is their advertisers and the next TV contract. Advertisers are calling CBS non stop to save their numbers. This is more of a sign that they are feeling the pressure than any ratings dip could show.

Tell us, oh violent Progressives, what should be done to Sean McManus for stating this wrong opinion?

They might as well have lengthy discussions about it. The people who don’t want to hear about it have already tuned out.
I’m not watching.

Doesn’t matter.
Still not watching.

Don't care, still not watching.

When the BLM SJW commie PCBS takes place, CBS can always not show it, cut to a commercial or talk about what they had for breakfast after getting off of the plane.
They did that to Trump when he got a five minute standing ovation by football fans.
