“I know many business owners and visit shitloads of companies. I don't know anybody that hires race over ability. “
I understand your point but let me add one word
“Private business owners”
Corporations have had race as part of their hiring criteria for over 30 years..
I recall working on corp upward mobility graphs for our management 30 years ago and two criteria was race and gender.. they did not have college.. gpa or levels of technical experience..
And for fun… it was Amoco oil company which was a legacy oil sister that went out of business….

I can only speak for myself, but hell no.
I crave the opposite and lament what’s become of higher ed.
The inability of many students to think critically and to problem solve is maddening.
I could write a book on the change(s) I’ve seen in just two decades of working in academia.

'do white people have access to basketballs'?
well Jemele allow me to retort, do blacks have access to textbooks?
Pretty sure there are libraries in basically every town and city in America
They are free.

Be careful what you ask for!

Shooting ability is not what’s keeping white guys out of the NBA

Are you saying white men can't jump and are generally slower than black athletes?

And access to school isn't what's holding back black and Hispanic academic achievement.

Then you don't look hard enough. Happens every day.

What?
First of all the trend in the NBA right now is to find another big white dude MVP like Jokic in Euro leagues.
Also the discussion in the NBA is not player diversity but diversity of ownership and leadership. Its essentially all white owned - Jordan's out. 93% of league presidents were white vs 86% players of color.

No I’m saying if white players weren’t *generally* better shooters, the NBA would be even darker today

What’s holding it back then?

Yep, just find another Jokic. It’s that easy

Unique way of saying they were purchased by BP at a premium.

If black people would like to have a greater presence at Harvard, then we are going to have to work at our academics.
A big reason why tons of young teenage black boys don't bother with working on academics is because they stupidly believe they have a future in the NBA, NFL or as a rap star. They have a better chance of being struck by lightening.
By the time they are in H.S. and grasp reality it is too late to catch up academically because they are taking classes in 'basic phase' which means 'functionally illiterate.'

Lol, she’s usually right, but not here. Shooting a basketball would heavily favor White people from my years of playing competitive basketball, but there’s a lot more than a “ jump shot” that separates players when it comes to basketball

It's not meant to be literal. She could have used many different examples. "Whites should learn to jump higher" "run faster" etc.
The point is that no one questions racial disparities in athletics, and rightly so. But the idea that it should be questioned elsewhere is intellectually dishonest.

Not historically a white player problem
