Back a long time ago in the computer world we built everything to have redundancy. You couldn't have everything being redundant as it got too costly. However, a single bridge from Canada to the US for miles and miles, seems like real poor planning from the get go. That thing looks vulnerable without the truckers shutting it down.

I'm in food manufacturing and some of my products will be late this year because "raw materials are stuck at the Canadian border."

Got that email last night.

My response was "Fantastic!" - I literally meant this. My procurement lead was aghast.

That is a lot of stationary weight. I would worry about the structural integrity of the bridge.

You think bridges aren't designed to accommodate loading from stationary traffic?

The crazy thing is that there is (for now) only ONE bridge that crosses the river at Detroit. They're only about to open the second one in 2024.

Good shut it all down truckers have the real power. Sure both sides will suffer but I bet they get the message. This is probably the only form of nonviolent protest with real teeth.
Politicians going rogue with Emergency Powers caused this.
2 weeks has become 2 years.
So, frick em.
Let them eat cake.

Remember when conservatives were mad about protesters blocking roads and Republican-led state legislatures passed laws granting immunity to drivers who kill protesters with their cars?

Those were the days, right?

Are the truckers pulling people from their vehicles and beating them?!

Why isn't the media reporting these atrocities?!

They just keep showing them honking in a "mostly peaceful protest." I feel so misled.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. I don't think these Canadians should be killed for protesting either.

Likewise.

There is a world of difference from meandering around on the interstate in groups of 50 dressed all in black at night, and parking giant arse trucks on the interstate.

One of them (I'm gonna' let you guess which one) is likely to cause a shite ton of accidents, which would account for people accidentally running into them. The other will not.

I realize you guys probably have not gotten the latest download for this argument, but be better next time.

I could say the same thing. Thus far, I see nothing but a comically ineffective gotcha attempt.

I remember.

Y’all shouldn’t have given the conservatives ideas.

Did you know that's privately owned?

So, they should have insurance then.
