Maybe being denied at one border and attempting to enter at another border is the key here.

It IS the key. Why was she incarcerated though, rather than being denied entry? If it is criminal (was it attempted fraud?), why wasn't she charged with a crime?
I'm for stringent enforcement of immigration laws and for deportation of all who are here illegally. I'm not keen on the power and money of the state being used to randomly imprison people for arbitrary reasons.

I don’t know. She said she was forced to sleep on a concrete floor.
I doubt that’s true so what am I to believe?

1. She had a special (available only to Canadians and Mexicans?) 3-year work Visa to be in the United States. She had worked in California based on that Visa.
That is a TN, but acting isn't a recognized TN category. So fully depends on her job offer she was coming to do. Applying for a TN extension at a POE is VERY common.

3. She went to the Port of Entry for the US at the Canadian border in Vancouver to apply for a new work Visa. For unknown reasons, that was denied.
4. Then she did the only thing that I can tell was ill-advised (no proof that it was illegal). She "port of entry shopped." She tried to enter the US from Mexico using the same application for a new work visa that had been rejected in Vancouver.
This happens a lot. Some POE's are stricter than others or have less experience and are overwhelmed with certain technical details of employment based visas.
Her being detained for 11 days is unusual, and indicates there is something more to the story.

American Pie? Which actress was she?

There is more to this story that is not being stated.

Thanks so much for adding your knowledge, Lion.
Care to speculate as to what more to the story there could be?
Much appreciated

How did they force her to sleep? Medically induced, or KTFO?

For something like a passport yes you should routinely check it. If not, you’re just dumb and irresponsible and need to learn how to be an adult.

You're laughing at this but that is quite literally how she got the work visa in 2009 under the guidance of a lawyer.
Maybe she should have sought more current legal advice? 2009 was Obama, then Obama again, then Trump, then Biden (who revoked her arse), now Trump.
I'd say that's good reason to get more up to date legal counsel.

and my point was that she was actively trying to get her papers in order.
Actively? Try belatedly .

They should have worked with her to get her visa back in order but given her a warning that the next time this happens, she will be deported.
The warning comes with the issuance of the visa. This ain't grade school.

I'd like to know why she was denied.
When she chose to port shop, she really should have sought legal counsel.

Attention whores gonna attention whore. They don’t randomly revoke visas. She had to have breached material terms like overstaying the visa or possibly prostitution

To resolve the issue, she went directly to the border seeking a renewal.

Maybe she did. Maybe she didn’t.
Regardless……she was detained for 12 days and sent to an Arizona detention facility while apparently committing no crimes.

No. Actively. Her work visa being revoked for months is irrelevant. She wasn’t in the country. She wasn’t trying to sneak into the country. She was trying to get her shite in order so that she could be here legally.
Was she an idiot for not doing going about it the correct way? Sure. Is being an idiot a crime? Well if so then several of you in this thread should be put in prison.
