What’s the point of this? Soccer has gained much more notoriety in that time frame, and you can make a frickton of money, why wouldn’t there be more black people playing it?
Really competitive sports are one of the last places true merit gets you where you want to be.

Looks like a racist situation here....

I don’t want diversity for diversity sake, I want the most qualified person to get whatever position it is they are applying for, so why would I want forced diversity in sports just because I’m of a different race?
That only goes for real people of their birth gender, not dudes dressing up as fake women.

You are simply less offended by hypocrisy than I am.

While kinda true, who really gives a frick about Ivy League swimming or any women’s powerlifting? That’s the only two I really remember having this issue.
I kinda feel like anything that people will actually pay good money for won’t stand for that shite.

Are you implying that more blacks are homosexual now?

It is hypocrisy by the left, but why would be offended that only 95% of things are forced diversity instead of 100%.
While I can see you are wanting it to be “fair,” I am fairly certain more bull shite isn’t actually fair, it’s just more bull shite.

What is the point of this thread?
How is it remotely political?

Very true, and I suspect one could make the same observation about the NBA, the NFL, and MLB from the '60s or '70s to now. It may be that people of African descent are not as far removed from the time where their survival depended on their athletic abilities (run fast to escape predators, run far to run down game or physical strength to capture/kill game). Can't do those things, you die and are removed from the gene pool.
People whose ancestors came to North America as slaves may be only a few hundred years removed from that level of survival of the fittest. Due to industrialization and more domestication of animals for farming, people of European descent are more likely to be further removed from that contest and have physically devolved faster (slower and weaker people can still reproduce).
This is just an observation why some people or races may tend to have different levels of physical athletic talent. I have ZERO belief that athletic talent (or a relative lack thereof), skin color, or anything else reflects in any way on anyone's value as a person either now or in the past.
Or maybe the OP was just commenting that the 1986 unis were red and white versus being predominantly red in 2022 or that Nike has displaced Adidas.

As others have said you could do this with most teams if you looked at a 30 year difference.
I think part of the driving force behind this is the fact that now so many players will now claim heritage from several different countries.
Look at the goal scorer for the US. His parents are from Ghana, he was born in New York and grew up in London.
Today there was a player for Spain that was on the France squad and sat the bench, moved to Spain and he is a starter.

Basically countries just recruit players.
Spain has a French guy on their team, had a Brazilian in the past.
We’d get German born with American fathers. Carter vickers dad played basketball at lsu but vickers was born in England when pops was playing euro ball.
Rossi was born in NJ but chose to play for italy.
France is so good because they get players from Africa.
