Want to bring down food costs? Have farmers switch back to growing food crops.

Trump had to form a coalition to get elected. He and future republicans need the corn states. It will be tough to get rid of ethanol even though we obviously should.

As long as Iowa kicks off primary season, no Republican can campaign on eliminating ethanol. If you want to immediately increase the fuel efficiency of all gas vehicles, ban ethanol.

Its not that simple. Not every station has it. Also its cheaper to make non-ethanol gasoline. The reason non-ethanol gas is more expensive at the pump is a supply/demand issue artificially created by government mandates

It would also make feed cheaper therefore making beef, pork, etc cheaper

And most of all, GASOLINE would be cheaper! Bring down the price of fuel, and EVERYTHING goes down in price!

Why even sell it if it isn’t such a boogeyman, as you say?

Explain.

You’re asking a guy with a CORNhuskers logo. Think about it for a minute.

The absolute reason we have ethanol in our gas, is because of IOWA. The first primary State that potentially makes, or breaks a presidential campaign. Suggest an end to ethanol subsidies, and you lose votes to the candidate that supports it. As often said, all politics are local.

That being said, ethanol subsidies are AWFUL for the vast majority of our country and its citizens. We end up paying more for food, our cars don't last as long, and we pay more for fuel because we get WORSE gas mileage. If the feds didn't prop up the price of gas with subsidies, paid for with our taxes, ethanol would be more expensive than non-ethanol at the pump.

I think that’s taking it too far.

We need choices, and we need to let the market pick the winners and losers, not the government.

Plus that e85 makes a 600HP+ f150 possible for a few hundred dollars (tuner plus custom calibration) so that’s pretty nifty.

What do you do with a 600hp F150?

About 11.8 sec quarter mile in a crew cab on 35” tires

Also works great to haul family and groceries and tow a 40 horse tractor like it isn’t there.

Follow the money. The corn lobby and ADM throw a ton of it at Congress.

Except that Ted Cruz ran against ethanol in Iowa in 2015 and won the 2016 Iowa Caucuses.
