Can we not whine about going back to standard time?

Ever since this topic has been politicized, there is a slew of posts on the spring forward and fall back days. Why the GOP cares about this is a mystery to me. The existing system works fine. I hope my fellow Republicans can quit whining about this.

I, for one, am excited to be going back to real, solar based standard time instead of the bastardized arbitrary time we have been using.

It literally negatively impacts our health to make this shift twice a year.

Now that you mention it…..it seems very late!

Standard time has worked for us for all of history but some weirdos want it to be dark in the morning and bright in the evening

I never have understood why people want daylight until 9pm and the air conditioners running full blast when going to bed, meanwhile they want to commute to work in total darkness when people are driving batshit crazy to begin with.
Leave it at standard time as the good Lord intended.

The time change is gonna kill grandma!
If only we had two weeks to stop the clock!

the lack of daylight in the winter sucks regardless of what the clock shows
get over it. they're not going to make more sun

A number of years ago the Shreveport Times had a call-in column called Tell The Times. My favorite was a caller who said “ I don’t like daylight savings time. It burns up my grass”

You happy about losing an hour in the spring?

AI answer.
Yes, the biannual time change can cause real health issues. Sleep scientists, cardiologists, and major medical organizations link the spring and fall clock shifts to short-term and long-term disruptions in the human body.
In the days immediately following the spring "spring forward" change (when people lose an hour of sleep), studies show a spike in acute medical events. Research points to a temporary increase in heart attacks, higher rates of strokes, and a rise in hospitalizations for heart rhythm disorders like atrial fibrillation.

Sucks being in the further most eastern edge of a time zone and having it get pitch black between 4-5 pm (Nashville, Birmingham)

frick you till your job relies on when daylight happens.
3am wake up calls really suck

You’d have said that about slavery, the telegram, steam powered engines, etc… things we’ve outgrown since stupid clock changes were initiated.

When I lived in Arizona it was cool not having DST, but it still sucked because everyone else switched and I would have to account for that.
But as for the hours itself, it's the best. And you don't change your schedules for anything either, it's just the sun that changes the times of sunsets and sunrises all year long.
It's the sudden change people complain about, and that change will be gone.
Thus it's actually much better and would be if everyone did it.
I fully support getting rid of it.

Without DST you don't have that jump and you would just schedule normally.
What happens without it is the sun just changes every day slowly. The days get shorter by 1 minute per day by half the way and long the other half.
It's much better for people whose job relies on daylight hours.
It's the jump that will be gone and it's the jump that is your issue.

Must be from all the bitching and crying. Just look at how feeble posters on this site are when the time changes.

The arguments for DST are stupid, and without reason. Just because is no reason, or because Donald Trump wants more daylight in Summer to play golf, which is the high art of stupid in and of itself.Time enumerated is a man made construct whether Standard or Savings Time. It really makes no difference either way. The Seasons operate on their own schedule, whether in Winter or Summer. The natural progression of Summer will see longer days, just as Winter will see shorter days no matter the sand in the hour glass. DST seems only to be a psychological crutch.
