Looks like this US Steel spokesperson gave the canned response previously approved by corporate legal to meet SEC requirements. Nothing more,nothing less.

You could evaluate the statement he made without bias and very easily come to the correct conclusion that he was referring to the company

We are at the end of the 2nd Qtr, there will be another 2nd Qtr earnings and 3rd Qtr forecast call for USS in a few weeks. Perhaps they may update their BD plans and forecasts then?

No, you have to assume that Trump would give the public some good news about the Steel industry he just received via a telephone call directly the CEO but he would make sure the news was Germans as frick and everyone already knew about it even to the point of it being on the company website.
