But 60 hours without power subsequent to a hurricane wouldn't garner that type of criticism. I just don't see how there can reasonably be a distinction drawn between the two, i.e. hurricane power outage and winter storm power outage.

Anyone who has lived in cold weather states knows it typically gets WARMER before it snows in the winter.

The roads have been clear since yesterday afternoon. Again, this was not some big snowstorm.

Which is funny because Abbott will not treat it like that either.

You have this precisely backwards...you can’t blame the gov for wellheads freezing and natty gas not flowing, pipeline systems and processing plans freezing and shutting in. This was a failure from the wellhead to the residential energy consumer. No one along the entire energy chain was prepared and it all failed. Why? Because it made no economic sense to prepare for statewide Canadian winter weather.

Which is why we’ll have rolling blackouts until the weekend ? Boil advisories until Friday?

Do you think Abbott will just shrug this off as a freak event?

you keep repeating this but what do you mean? do you think producing natural gas wellheads freezing is part of the problem?

The Alabama gulf coast rebounded faster after hurricane ivan.

But just wondering what people thought. It looks like Texans are pretty divided in their opinions.

I know a few people in Texas and it sounds very bad.

They’re afraid to turn their lights on because they don’t want people to know they have electricity.

Legit end of civilization shite.

Yeah. Until today you couldn’t get oil haulers out to wells to pick up oil. If your tanks are full you’re shut in and gas doesn’t flow. About 4mm bbls are offline pushing oil over $60. That means all that associated gas is shut in. Additionally a bunch of midstream cos are still shut in at their processing plants are still dealing with issues from the freeze. That’s why Nat gas is still trading at ridiculous rates.

They are completely different. People readily understand power lines getting knocked down by hurricane force winds.

They don't understand power plants not having enough power to push it across undamaged lines or why the plants weren't prepared, even if it is justifiable why they weren't.

In some ways it’s worse to be out of power after a winter storm and thus should necessitate some extra preparation.

Over 20 people died so far freezing to death.

I’m in Texas, and no, I don’t blame Abbott.

I do blame the PUC and ERCOT, but I don’t think Abbott needs to resign or take heat for appointing people to the PUC, who in-turn made appointments to ERCOT.

Those who blame Abbott are either:

1. Democrats who are mad that Texas has a republican Governor, or who are still pissed that Abbott supported Trump

2. Morons who believe Abbott is sitting at the controls pulling the levers to turn off the power in poor neighborhoods

You have no fricking idea what’s been going on but that hasn’t stopped you from having an opinion. Abbott won’t rest on the extreme event because so many yapping dumbasses have to blame someone for every fricking act of nature. So you got things half fricking right. Congrats!

Does the national guard not have mobile generators to create shelters?

Has this been done and no ones talking about it?

You’ve admitted before you’re an IT worker. Your conjecture is worthless as as all of your posts.
