This has always shocked me. It’s as if they believe when you illegally take money from a foreign source, there is a line item an a tax return where you list this out the amount and the country.
Exactly

Do you know anybody or heard of anybody diving into any politicians tax returns? Do people do this? Can't we just take the IRSs word for it that there isn't some heinous BS up in there that they just let slide?

It used to be a 1099 from Vladamir Putin
Now they think they are going to find a 1099 issued to the Ukraine by Donald Trump for Muh Biden Dirt

There were whispers of syphilis going all the way back to Like Rock.
There were a lot of people in AR who hated Bill well beyond the simple political divide, although that certainly ramped it up once he hit the national stage. So take those whispers with several grains of salt.

There are several questions buried in the OP.
1. Should every presidential candidate be compelled to publish his tax returns?
No. There is no constitutional or statutory requirement that a candidate do so, and I think that the tradition is silly.
2. Should Donald Trump (in his capacity as POTUS) be required to produce his tax returns?
No. But he did promise to do so, and it is not unreasonable for people to expect him to keep that promise.
3. Should Trump (in his capacity as a private party in multiple civil lawsuits) be required to produce his tax returns?
That very much depends. His taxes are clearly irrelevant in some of the litigation, and should not be subject to discovery in those cases. There are also cases in which tax returns clearly DO contain information reasonably calculated to lead to the discovery of admissible information,” and they should be subject to discovery there.
4. If subject to discovery, should the tax returns be made available to the public?
In most civil litigation, in which the discovery of tax returns is allowable, the courts are amenable to issuing a confidentiality order which precludes dissemination of the information without specific court approval. I see no reason that President Trump should not be entitled to such a protective order.
5. Should trump even be subject to such civil litigation?
Jones v. Clinton resolved this issue for federal, courts, and the answer is that a sitting president is indeed subject to civil litigation for private actions… both those taken before and during his presidency.
Zervos v.Trump Was addressing that issue with regard to state court litigation. I have not been able to determine the status of the case, but I have not expanded a great deal of effort on that search. The last thing I have seen was an intermediate appellate court decision from a New York state court, ruling that the litigation could indeed proceed.

What is your objection to a NY court conducting an investigation and issuing a subpoena?
What is TRUMP so afraid of?

If Trumps starts the trend where no President or Person running for president doesn't releases there tax returns are you okay with that?

Don't make yourself look like a complete f*cking idiot by citing the opinion of Clinton-sycophant Barbara Underwood.
The amount of money the Trump Foundation collected wasn't even close to the BRIBES the Clinton Foundation took in over the last 10-15 years.
Why didn't Underwood look into the Clinton Foundation? They've had to "refile" their tax returns at least 3 times because of "discrepancies" found in the part of the returns that they were required to make public. They have collected hundreds of millions of dollars that the Clintons used as their own slush fund. Yet, Underwood did not even look at the Clintons.
THIS is the woman whose opinion you think we should believe?

Another important aspect of this too:
The vast majority of the Left's base doesn't pay taxes as well. They have no clue what these forms look like, nor what they mean.
With that, the MSM and their ilk can take ANYTHING on a form and tell the idiots that ABC actually means XYZ, and they would believe it.

I don't really think Republican voters GAF about what somebody makes.
More important is the ability to examine schedules, deductions, etc.… Which identify areas in which a candidate might have a conflict of interest.

I'm always ok with something like that. The will of the people can control how important that is.
I certainly don't want you to have the power to control that.
The only exception is documentation on things that are a requirement to hold the office (age, citizenship, etc.)
