Jihad is a suicidal and ruthless ideology. 9-11 was a perfect example of what they have in mind for “The Great Satan”.
Control of ME oil by radical Islam is simply intolerable as is their State owned nuclear arsenal. Pain now or guaranteed great pain later were the choices. Trump chose the lesser of two evils. Albeit we are now in the crosshairs of what is left of their delusional ideology cult and the no holds barred terrorism card is now on the table going forward. Given the advances of AI, I have no idea how we defend against what will surely come.

So have we prevented them from doing this? If so, why are we still there? If not, why is this not just going to turn into another Iraq?
Seems to me that a lot of the responses are "you are too dumb to understand" in nature. That isnt a very strong argument from my standpoint.

Destroyed their nuclear capabilities and are bleeding them dry economically so that the people can take back their theocratic government and elect the leaders they actually want. Eventually the IRGC will fold and a coup will occur.

The IRGC is a terrorist organization that has overtaken Iran and spread a terrorist threat to many other areas of the world. They are not a peaceful country that we decided to bomb just because they were minutes away from a nuke. They would have at least blackmailed us and the rest of the world had they been able to deliver it. None of this likely would have been possible had Russia not been engaged and bogged down in Ukraine. As the leadership of Russia and the IRGC are one corrupt mafia type organization. We have disassembled much of this and if the will of the American people is to finish it we could. The mid terms and liberal media are standing in the way and wanting people like you to believe we are doing nothing and to ask what have we accomplished and why gas prices are nearly as high as in the Biden administration minus a war.

Shut up, Peasant! You don't need to know anything other than the war will be over immediately after the midterms if the Republicans win.
In seriousness, I guess we're supposed to infer that the economic stranglehold will force a regime change and we will be able to deal honestly with the new regime. Clearly, there can't be a deal that we can trust with the current regime.
It would be a courtesy for the Administration to be explicit about our plans.

Trump got bold and thought he could go into Iran like he did Venezula, drop some bombs and they'd surrender. Terrorists would would rather die than surrender and don't go away that easy. As far as two weeks away, I don't buy that at all coming from Trump's mouth. While I voted for him and have supported most of what he's done, don't like what we're doing here. We need to find a way to get out so Trump can spin this as a victory and focus on national debt and try and have a little fiscal responsibility.

It's noble, but futile of you to argue for transparency from our government on PoliBoard. It's considered disloyal.
Personally, if it's about China, I would appreciate the President saying that. The Chinese already know that.
If it's about regime change, say that.
If it's just about Iran not having nuclear weapons, you're right, we have achieved that.

Yeah the only way this works as the defenders report is regime change, and we're in no position to do that.
Even the "China" angle doesn't work without real regime change.
