As for the FBI, they don’t police ideology. They will only take action if a person threatens violence or actually commits a crime.
If he threatened violence, we can assume the FBI who looked into him would have done something. Since they didn't, we can assume he didn't threaten violence to anyone. If he didn't threaten violence, what did he do/say to warrant losing his guns?

Retaliation for what? Is Herr Sheriff acknowledging that he disarmed Casarez in anticipation of attacks against him?
