Reparations for what?
Who alive has been denied something because of their race?
Oh, that's right, me. I was turned down to a college because of quota numbers were not met.

But the state did let slave-owning whites bring their slaves to California. The Legislature even passed a law making it legal to arrest runaway slaves and return them to their owners.
Kinda hard not to do this after the Dred Scott decision.

I heard the reparations will only be available to those living in California by the end of 2021. People interested probably should start moving now.

So when the big one hits the west coast and Vegas becomes beach front property, will that be an example of existential racism or simple white privilege?

California will develop a detailed plan for reparations under a new law signed on Wednesday by Gov. Gavin Newsom, making it the first state to mandate a study of how it can make amends for its role in the oppression of Black people.
quote:
In 1849, a state Constitutional Convention was first held in Monterey. Among the first tasks of the Convention was a decision on a location for the new state capital. The first full legislative sessions were held in San Jose (1850–1851). Subsequent locations included Vallejo (1852–1853), and nearby Benicia (1853–1854); these locations eventually proved to be inadequate as well. The capital has been located in Sacramento since 1854[73] with only a short break in 1862 when legislative sessions were held in San Francisco due to flooding in Sacramento. Once the state's Constitutional Convention had finalized its state constitution, it applied to the U.S. Congress for admission to statehood. On September 9, 1850, as part of the Compromise of 1850, California became a free state and September 9 a state holiday.

Reparations to people who cannot prove damage From people who caused no damage is immoral.

???, California was never a slave state. Slavery was never allowed by CA since it has been part of the U.S. either as territory or a state.

Do people in interracial marriages just cancel each other out?

Why do you feel your race is inferior?

No, I actually like it. I live in TN, but if we can funnel all the tit-sucking, whiny black people to CA from the other 49 states, I’ll pay extra taxes. Hard-working black people can stay where they are and keep helping us all pull the weight of the slackers.

It's racist... sounds like you're okay with racism? Never took you for a racist but I get it now. In classic fashion a democrat has no problem with it and you don't even understand why.

F CA. They will never get another dollar from me.

Um, how is it melting when it is probably one of the most ignorant ideas out there?
People pointing out absurdity is not melting.
Care to share any other "zingers" with the group?

It’s not racism in the slightest. Reparations has always been the means to get this country to come to terms with slavery, Jim Crow, mass incarceration, etc.

It's trying to solve historical racism with modern day racism, just like affirmative action.

So when are they giving reparations to the Chinese and Japanese who were treated even worse?

Affirmative action is not the best of examples for your argument considering that it has been benefiting white women.

Zero.
The ability to differentiate Black people here in any relation to Slavery versus the millions that legally immigrated here by choice.
Can we please stop pretending like every Black person in America is here because they were forced?
30 years ago reparations may have made some sense. Now, it will simply divide us and create greater cultural isolation.
Put every dollar of those reparations into education and career training while reducing dependency on social welfare.
