quote:

The department directed nursing homes to accept people suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19, while taking “appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of the infection.”

quote:

Dr. Karl Steinberg, a nursing home and hospice medical director in North County, called the order reckless. “What responsible healthcare provider would willingly put somebody who has this deadly, contagious illness into a place where it doesn’t already exist?" he asked. "To me, that’s essentially being an accessory to homicide.”

Unbelievable.

CMS released new guidelines for nursing homes and Covid patients last night. But the above is insanity. They’re trying to free up hospital space. But this ain’t it, chief.

Florida catches a lot of flack and I currently live in S. Florida.

But -

I lived in Cali for 4 years and their stupidity doesn’t even come close to Florida or any other state I’ve lived in.

Literally took white shoe polish and wrote “Now leaving CA, moving back to America” on my vehicle windows when I left.

It's not "stupid" and it's not "mental illness"

It's evil

Are nursing homes obligated to follow this “direction”?

Talk about throwing granny off a cliff....

I'll take a guess and say yes if they want to keep receiving state funds.

Its government mandated euthanasia. Let's hope caregivers on the ground in california dont do it.

I honestly am speechless. I recommend we all call 916-558-1784 and raise hell. We actually might save lives. Their call centers open in the morning. Do your part.

The problem is where do they go if DC? The hospitals can't be stuck with them indefinitely. There's no doubt some of the crappy nursing homes would try to dump patients this way.

It's a mess.

They know good and well this would kill or significantly increase risk for other major issues within the nursing home.

I live in California and am surrounded by nursing homes. If they do this in our area it could wipe out a huge portion of population. 28 percent of our population here is over 65. Crazy.

I think they should be put in one of Pelosi's mansions. Especially after she invited everyone to go visit Chinatown and festivities with her right after Trump issued the China travel ban.

I'm sure she and her staff can provide adequate care. After all, they are the government, right? We should trust the gov with our healthcare should we not?

You couldn't pay me to live in that crazy state. Seriously, no amount of money could ever lure me to live there. Too many people, crazy politics, horrible pollution, traffic, extremely high cost of living, homelessness, illegal immigration, earthquake threat, wildfires, frequent water shortages... I could go on and on.
