SNFs don’t admit patients everyday based on their clinical complexity. They just pretend it’s another reason. There will be a lot of bluster from the state on this and not much will happen.

Example:
Hospital: we have a Covid 19 patient to admit to your facility.
SNF1: We do not currently have staffing to handle that patient.
SNF2: Ok. We’ll run the benefits and get back with you.
SNF3: We’d love to take a Covid patient, but unfortunately our PPE stock is low and we cannot safely handle that patient.
SNF4: (doesn’t answer the referral)

If the person is a new admit to that facility and they have Covid-19 the facility will tell the hospital that they are full. I knew California was insane, but this declaration to accept people with the virus into an environment that is most at risk just confirms it.

There's a decent chance the NH pts, who are the weakest population, would show progression first. If you flood the hospitals with them, and then the NH's REFUSE to take them back

Is that what this is about? Taking back patients who have overcome the virus and are no longer infected?

They should designate Wuhan only nursing homes. Staff there will have to be monitored and, frankly, like the ER folks, should receive hazard pay in such an environment.

This is pure lunacy on an epic scale.
It’s intentional. They want people to die. These are the same people that were practically begging for more Ebola patients to be imported from Africa a few years ago. Again, they want people to die, just not themselves.

People are going nuts about this, but we don't see the details of the order.

You do understand, a ton of nursing homes are likely going to refuse to admit or readmit a patient that tested positive, even if they have since recovered. Liability and fear of infecting the population of the NH, I get that.

The problem is, that means the hospitals have to then hold that patient until he/she DOES get placed.
Normally, a hospital treats someone for about a week or two, and then sends them off somewhere for long-term stuff. If they have to keep all the NH pts they get, because nobody will take them, beds will get short in a hurry.

In all likelihood, this is a preemptive move to prevent that. I SERIOUSLY doubt they would try to send someone acutely ill out.

I bet it is.

You're not going to pull someone off a vent and send them to a SNF or NH.

Yep. Raised this on pg.1 Sister's facility will not accept anyone from a nursing home unless they pre-arrange to take them back.

Hell patient dumping is a problem in the best of times.

They are demonizing and creating hatred for and actively now killing anyone 60 years or older.

Just quarantine the infected elderly and let everyone else go back to work.

We will all be required to take a Bill Gates shot in the near future in order to buy or sell.
