He’s also trying to figure out a motive, what exactly is so confusing about the motive? There were about 12 gunshots in the car…Someone clearly intended to kill her
mo·tive
/'modiv/
noun
a reason for doing something, especially one that is hidden or not obvious.
"a motive for his murder"
Do you understand what a motive is? So what is the motive? WHY did they intend on killing someone?

I think the most maddening thing about this specific press conference is that each of the morons speaking took the position that these useless fricking “programs” and “coalitions” (coalitions is my least favorite platitude in the face of a problem that I can name) were “working” but “there is still more work to be done.”
Seriously. frick off Sharon.
Seriously. frick off Sharon.

This is what happens when you have barely functional adults who think platitudes are policy. That presser was just a series of clichés strung together for half an hour. This idea that their "holistic" approach of having a bunch of incompetent "community activists" roaming the streets to engage gangbangers and supervise midnight basketball tournaments is patently absurd. But, it's a perfect way to pay off the politically connected and give the appearance that they're "doing something" without actually addressing the real problems that they're terrified to touch. Meanwhile, the taxpayers will get hit with constant tax increases to fund this horseshite.

Gotta blow up the mayor-president form of government. It's by far the most damaging thing to EBR.

Warden Norton from Shawshank has the answer to our society’s problem, “more walls, more bars, more guards”. But there are too many naive people in this country that think these troubled youths can be reached in enough numbers with programs to fix the problem. There is simply a segment of society that has no respect for anything and they need to be dealt with harshly, and in many cases permanently. But I don’t think we have the stomach and the backbone as a country to get it done. I’m sad and fearful of the world my kids and future grandkids will have to endure if we don’t wake up and take a stand as a nation.

"motive"
What exactly is the purpose for invoking this term in this particular instance, and in so many similar ones?
Particularly when attempting to apply it to types whose lives are generally controlled/driven by predominantly "stimulus-response," gratification-now, impulsive behavior.
Which doesn't really require a "motive," reason, or anything else to explain why they are acting on their dark compulsions.

Damn white supremacists and their misinformation at it again.
According to that press conference, the two biggest issues plaguing BR are misinformation and lack of community programs. Crazy town!

You know the saying that when you take out one terrorist, you just created several more in the process? You're not really doing anything to fix the problem. Locking up all "troubled youth" isn't going to fix the problem if the rest of their friends/families are in the same life situation as they are.
BR has to be more proactive against gangs and drug trafficking - without question. You also have to put an emphasis on local schools and local job creation. When people have something to lose, they usually act right. When they feel they have nothing to begin with, they are more likely to commit crime.
It's a very long process to break up the cycle of families in poverty/crime producing more families in poverty/crime, but you can't ignore that aspect of it when trying to fix the overall problem. Schools and job creation are pivotal to combatting crime (along with a stronger criminal justice system).

It’s called deterrence. If you see your buddy in the clink, you might think twice before pulling that trigger.

This is the kind of idealistic white liberal attitude that got us where we are now.
The idea that if these people just had jobs, then this would all go away is absolutely absurd. Do you honestly think that if these gangbangers had an office job or trade job available for them that they'd choose that instead of gangbanging?
This all comes down to a ghetto culture that incubates broken homes and crime and there's no government program that will change any of that. The only way to combat this is to go scorched earth on the streets.

sharon weston has a degree in communications. She is not qualified to be a mayor of any town. She makes morons look intelligent.

None of these programs work. They're all complete wastes of money. We've pissed away millions in the last 6 or 7 years and absolutely nothing has come of it. People like Mickey think we can send social workers to do the jobs of the police because he lives in fricking fantasy land with the rest of his lily white progressive buddies who interact with black people twice a month.

Literally everything you said here is false.

Overnight? No. And I never said it was only about jobs. It’s jobs, public schools, and staying strong on criminal justice. None of those will do the trick on their own.

Jesus Christ. Remember that whole cycle thing I mentioned? Going scorched earth on the streets will not solve the problem by itself. More people will simply come up to replace them if you don’t fix the schools and have good paying jobs waiting for them.
