Absurd.

Questioning authority is totally different than defying authority. You progressives are really dumb.

School unions were & still are a huge problem as well. Their only concern is taking care of their members, screw all the students' educational needs.

Kneeling during the anthem is "defying authority" to you?

Ok, I'll get off your lawn now.

This is true. We need two pipelines, one for parents who value education and one for those that do not.

They had a yearly report that they had to turn in on violence in the classroom. They filled it out. The admin came back to her and said, “You can’t turn this in like this. It shows 30 violent attacks on staff.” She said, “Yes. That’s an accurate reflection of what happened.” They said, “Well, we can only report instances where staff was injured.” She filled out the report to show 8 or so instances where staff was injured. They came back and said to only report instances where staff was seriously injured. It dropped to two. They then told her to only report where staff was hospitalized or disabled as a result of the attack.

Wow... an epic case of change your facts until they fit our narrative...

I'm saddened but not surprised.

Though I wonder about the age and size of the children who seriously injured a teacher.

Those numbers must be incredibly high for secondary schools.

People have no idea what happens in these schools on the daily. Your story isn't surprising at all.

What about when authority is designed (effective classroom management) precisely to protect the rights and needs of a broader group (the class?) There are other black kids in the class that probably want to be able to read.

parents were non-existent

IMO that is the only real problem in education in the US. If a parent doesn’t set expectations and follow through then the kid won’t learn no matter how good the school/teacher.

Dangerous Wild animals generally aren’t allowed to roam free in our cities and towns yet…

I did a project in Jax in an inner city school during college. A third grader, assigned as my “partner” told me out loud that he was going to bring a knife to school and stab me.

Because I didn’t care, I told him that if he did that I would take it from him and shove it up his arse sideways.

He and I had no further problems and ended up having fun during our time together.

He never had anyone explain right and wrong.

No dad around and no mom that cared about his education. All he knew was violence at that age.

I decided then that I couldn’t be a teacher.

Exactly. A lot of people don't get this. The best teachers and schools in the world can't make a kid learn if he doesn't want to learn.

Schools get a lot of blame when kids fail, but if education isn't prioritized in the home, then the schools can't do anything about it.

Yep. If you dont hold parents responsible, their little heathens will make the classroom a mess.

We dont hold parents responsible and we need to start putting this in their laps. If that means Junior isnt in school, so be it.

Junior isnt going to be educated regardless of educational attainment.

The bad news is that until 3-5 years ago, we weren’t even teaching kids how to read in a way that actually facilitated literacy in hundreds of districts across the country.

Ive taught in smaller schools my entire career. Ive never been at a school where a teacher was attacked. I have seen several get injured breaking up a fight. Hell i took a graze from a punch breaking up a girl fight last year. I guess it made my face puff up a little. Principal asked if i wanted to file anything and go to the doctor. I just asked "Are you frickin serious?"

In my 20+ year career, ive only felt unsafe 1 time. We were at a basketball game at Central on the NW side of Tulsa a few years ago and some shite went down at the game. We had to have a police escort out of the building. All the students were milling around outside just waiting on us to come out until the police showed up.

The issue can be fixed.

It will require Democrats, those who created this mess in US Education, to sit down, shut up, and let the adults fix it.

It will require bringing back things preached in the 10 Commandments. Establishing morality and accountability.
Boldly telling parents they are the issue, when in fact, they are the issue.
Removing indoctrination and re-instituting the core basics.

Democrats turned Public Education, away from actual Education, into indoctranation camps to push out people believing Socialism / Communism are the only way said person will prosper in America.
