Exactly. Think back to the Ken Starr investigation. A sitting president or a presidential candidate is best investigated and prosecuted by a special prosecutor who does not report to the administration.

Isn't this like 2017-2020 all over again? How many millions of taxpayer dollars have been sucked up by this crap? Ten percent could go towards investigating the big guy but no one wants those answers.

About the only parallel between the two situations is the special counsel part. Only those two words. This situation has already been egregious and turning it over to a special prosecutor doesn’t and won’t change that.

not really.
1. Mueller was under Trumps doj.
new guy Smith does not come under the guilty party's controls.
2. the mal crimes are simple.
+ mishandling. defense is "I already declassified by saying or thinking."
+ the only interesting piece is proving trump knew that there were still docs IN HIS OFFICE AND HIS DESK even while his representative signed there were none.
we probably get a supreme court ruling whether Mr trump could in fact reclassify verbally.
I know there's a Clinton era case related.
