It’s not being a “do goodie” to hate the spread of Communism- it used to be a Republican idea until Trump.
Good lord, I bet you are one of those who tell us men can be women.

Russia hasn’t been communist in three decades. Putin is a nationalist.

Times and tactics have changed since WWII
I contend that tactics are a function of survival. If your way of life is threatened, strategy and tactics will change, winning is everything. Nothing else matters, at some point.
If we win with smart bombs etc. so be it. But if not and our way of life, country, and freedom is truly in jeopardy, Katie bar the door. Strategic bombing changed during ww2 as the war progressed.

And this somehow makes you an expert on the subject? The United States hasn't fought a real war in several generations. Since the end of the Korean War most of our conflicts have been waged against farmers armed with AK-47s.
Yeah mother fricker it does. I have done both high intensity as a FST Team leader calling in CAS and SEAD to low intensity in South America with our failed “War on Drugs”. So since you questioned me I will say any one that has gone in harms way, heard the snap of bullets and known he could go home in a fricking body bag is far more an expert than your Call Of Duty playing arse could ever be. And your next statement just goes to prove how thoroughly deplorable you are. There are thousands of men calling out from their graves saying you are an idiot!

I’m referring to European wars fought after the Peace of Westphalia, which set political precedents for recognizing national sovereignty and established norms of inter-state diplomacy between European nations in the modern era. Clausewitz’s assumption that war itself is a rational act and a reflection of a nation’s national interests was largely an outgrowth of Westphalian notions of statehood — that nation-states represent the unified interests of citizens, armies and the heads of government.
Okay...so you are trying to sound intelligent without knowing what you are talking about. Got it. Because...

Such asymmetrical forms of warfare is indeed the norm in the history of human conflict
This is not entirely accurate. Not in the least bit. There are plenty of examples from ancient history all the way through to the Peace of Westphalia of major, set piece battles fought on land and sea that involved uninformed armies fighting for kings, emperors, and warlords. Asymmetrical warfare has indeed existed since human conflict began, but symmetrical warfare between organized and opposing armies has also existed since the earliest city-states.

What doesn’t make any sense is your claim that the United States has not fought a “real” war in many generations
Why not ask the imperial leaders of Europe in the early-20th century what was different about the colonial conflicts fought in Africa and Asia and the Great War fought in continental Europe between 1914-1918? This might offer you some insight into what I mean by a "real" war.

All is fair in love and war. It’s terrible and that’s why it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

FU @sshat! You want to have a discussion or sling insults? I’m game for either!
My mistake was trying to actually enter into dialogue with you but I thought my initial response was perhaps too brusque. But once again, my initial instinct was correct. I should have left it at this:
You are a fr*cking idiot if you think the United States has not fought in a “real war” since Korea so any further discussion with you will be an excercise in futility. FULL STOP.

And I made no claim otherwise. I specifically said “belligerent nations” NOT empires, NOT city-states, NOT kingdoms but NATIONS. Nations are largely a modern phenomenon and many historians point to the Peace of Westphalia as the beginning of our modern concept of sovereign nations.
You fricking ignorant cur!
