A poorly trained and panicked female officer pulled weapon instead of tazer. Wouldn't have happened if he would have COMPLIED though, usually the case in all of these scenarios.

He was mixed I think. But obviously the cops shot at the black part of him.

How do you mistake your pistol for a taser?

I see a black male cop on the driver's side, a white female fired the shot, and the white male cop was on the other side of the vehicle completely away from any such activity whatsoever. I'm sure the media will just focus on the fact that she's white and will completely ignore the fact that she's female and that she was assisting a black officer.

Correct. She shouldn't have needed to pull anything to subdue him.

There are so many social issues highlighted by this one incident, nothing like a summer of rioting to really sear in the juices.

The race pimps are going to be really pissed about this one - but only because it didn’t involve a white male cop.

No white male cop, the settlement money goes WAY down.

ETA: Of course, the Houston Texans can definitely empathize right about now. Two months ago they wanted to know how many first round draft picks (no less than four) they were going be offered for Deshaun Watson. Now, they’d like to know if anybody would take him off their hands if they threw in some Tostitos and some cheese dip.

Dude was fighting and you have no idea what he could have in the vehicle.

He had a warrant for unlawful possession of firearm.

What's the problem.

Bad shite happens when you resist arrest with an outstanding warrant for illegal possession of a firearm. Of course, even if accidental, the town will burn.

Just curious but why do you think a tazer would be the appropriate response when a suspect resists and reenters his car?

Actually, this highlights one of the issues with having female cops, soldiers, and other professionals who come across males who are inherently bigger and stronger than they are. For years, they’ve been lowering the physical standards for women. This kind of scenario is exactly what the lower standards could lead to.

I’m guessing it’s fairly easy when a guy being taken into custody decides to re enter a vehicle that could easily have a weapon in it.

while i agree in this situation. him trying to get back in the car aggressively is the ultimate cause, we did have an incident in my town where the officer had an accidental discharge and killed the guy.

guy didn't pull over when speeding so the policeman approached with the gun unholstered and accidentally discharged it while the guy was complying.

cop was immediately charged though and found guilty. unfortunately they still want more charges to this day.

How many times did she shoot. I didn't have sound, but it appears she fired more than once, no?

None of the officers were in front or behind the vehicle to be struck by it. It is definitely the next level of control. Now if a weapon were spotted in the vehicle, within his reach, that would escalate to deadly force if he reached for it. My guess is she had no business in that job, had minimal training, and carried the taser on the same side as her weapon (should be on the other side and used with cross draw. You can clearly see she had weapon out for a few seconds before firing, don't know how she didn't realize it was not the tazer, two totally different feeling pieces of equipment. She had tunnel vision, it's a fatal error.

Seems we have a resisting arrest problem not a police officers shooting people problem.
