Hey, we'll do generic hair band metal, but get this, we're gonna wear flannel.
The only bands in that list you can even remotely accuse of doing "hair band metal," would be Alice In Chains (I was never a big fan) and maybe Soundgarden because of Cornell's singing style. But none of those other bands even sound anything near to hair metal.

How will the United States survive this?

Wait, Green Day???
Man, the 90’s might have had a handful of bands that were redeemable by and rational musical metrics, but Green Day wouldn’t be one that I would have on my list. A band out of the Left Coast trying to sound like a British punk rock band. What a silly group to be associated with anything legendary. Kind of like calling the Monkeys legendary. Had a few hits and attempted to ride the coattails of a British rock band genre, but certainly not unique or legendary.

What's your farewell message to Billie?
Back at you double Billie Joe.

He's been telling us since 1994

No doubt about it

He's OG punk.
Y'all happy?
Haha. I know they weren't OG punk. And whether they made punk music is up to the people. I realize it was more pop rock. I was just saying they weren't contrived or put together like boy bands or put together by a big label. They made two albums on an independent label and gained a following before signing to the big label and put out Dookie. That's all I was saying.

I didn't even know he's American, thought he was European.

That was my first thought, rock legend? Not quite.

Anyway...that's all you never wanted to know about why the music in the 90s was good but not great. There were a lot of really vanilla turds being polished in really great studios so as to avoid running afoul of the radio testers.
You hit the nail on the head with your analysis. Labels got even more risk averse with the growth of piracy, and streaming basically finished off any creative risk-taking that still existed.

I thought he was Canadian for some reason.

One of the biggest rock acts of the last 30 years….
And still couldn’t outdraw a Led Zep reunion tour, the Stones, Pink Floyd or a dozen other true rock legends.
The word is tossed around too often.

That’s because he’s from the bay area and uses a fake British accent

Because Zeppelin hasn’t toured in over 40 years. Green Day has been touring consistently playing arenas and stadiums consistently for almost 30 years.
You have an argument with the Stones, or what’s left of them.

Who?? Even though I don't know who you are, I'll make myself available to help you pack and load boxes.

"Rock Legend"
When I think of rock legends - Eddie Van Halen, Ozzie, Ted Nugent, Frampton, James Hetfield, Led Zeppelin, Boston, etc......
Surely not this pop music freak. I wouldnt even have recognized his name without it being said.
