I guess you could say the election was "another turning point.... a fork stuck in the road" for poor Billie Joe Armstrong

You know, that song "Ode to Billy Joe" always annoyed me because no country boy is gonna get killed jumping off an eight foot bridge. But I guess "Billie Joes" might be different.

Grew up in the 70s, graduated HS in the early 80s. The early 90s were a cultural island that was pretty damn awesome.

A guy gets tired of vapid party music after a while.

Absolutely.

That dude dressed like a caricature of punk and wrote bubble gum pop tunes.

I actually liked Dookie CD back in the day.

Now, I change the channel on any Green Day.

Something I don't do for Rage. Although rich spoiled Leftists, Rage Had an authenticity to it that Green Day could never touch.

Good Riddance, BJ.
And we all acknowledge Rage is part of the Machine.

I've been listening to Rage - Evil Empire again recently. fricking amazing record. Less rap-y and more a throwback to Zach's hardcore days with his band Inside Out. Killer record.

I’ve always fricking hated Green Day. Not even real punk and the trust fund-poser-art-class “punks” in high school used to worship them.
Exactly. Frauds. The Offspring as well.

No one is saying your era of music wasn't the shite either. But all the 90s bands were influenced by those bands and metal and punk rock. The 90s were the last great era of rock music. Things have gone to shite since. Still tons of good underground and indie music to explore but mainstream stuff is absolutely fricking terrible.
