Forgot to address this in my first post. Yes, because he didn't do this to get rich and powerful, and that's why 99% of them go to DC. 99% of the remaining 1% that go with good intentions adopts that goal after their first term or two.

Realistically, who exactly would have done an honest investigation? FBI? DOJ? Dept. of State? LOL. His hands were fricking tied for all four years.
