War is the health of the state. It's no coincidence the exponential rise of government power and authority came about alongside America's rise as a global superpower. Governments can't rule the world by force and not apply that same monopoly of violence to its own citizens.

So why is Kristol bitching? Trump has not declared war on Iran, he’s just fulfilling another of his electoral promises. Now if Iran wants to go the war route they can. That will be up to their people to decide.
