And I hate to break it to you, but the jury's still out on the issue of hurricane intensity. There is a lot that isn't understood about what drives hurricane intensity. They don't even know for sure if the AMO is natural or a result of the competing effects of aerosols and greenhouse gases, the present anthropogenic signal could easily be buried in the uncertainty over natural variability.

So, “climate experts” still don’t know those answers?

Why not, if they’re experts?

Hurricanes have come and gone since the planet and oceans came into existence.

The Treasure Coast in Florida is named that due to Spanish treasure ships wrecking hundreds of years ago due to hurricanes.

They didn’t have “aerosols, greenhouse gases, and anthropogenic signals” back then.

When compared to the average poster on this forum and in particular the ones that are blasting him do you think he has more or less scientific knowledge?

You are taking about a character on tv. A man wearing a white coat on tv doesn’t make him credible.

You do realize you are demonstrating that you have fallen for it, right?

Again, you don’t have to spend a lifetime studying something to be the only one who understands it. You can expand your mind by reading and thinking, assuming you can do both.
Maybe not. But it doesn't take a lifetime of study to figure out Bastardi doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, it's more like freshman physics. Why do you push such rubbish when you know what he is saying makes no sense at all?

The theory is quite clear. Maybe you can come up with a different theory of how hurricanes work that says the opposite. Let me know.

I believe I explained this already. What is your point of misunderstanding ?

Hurricanes have come and gone since the planet and oceans came into existence.

Wow that's some deep insight you have there. I'm sure it's a point everyone else missed. You ever think maybe you missed your calling?

Two thirds of what you just said it blatantly false. I kinda got the feeling you haven't done your homework.

Agreed My point is he might not be a scientist academically but I don't think that he's lacking in scientific knowledge generally speaking Does that make him a climate expert? No. Does he probably know more about the topic than most here piling on the guy? 100%

Lol what?

have you ever met an engineer? once they get that stamp, they think
it makes them an expert on any field and anything. they are like stay at moms on steroids.

He's a mechanical engineer

I wouldn't say that he is lacking in scientific knowledge

has he ever worked as one?? there is a different between actually doing it and teaching it - or just getting a 'degree' with that in the title.

What makes a good engineer is the practical application of the physics involved.

now - my knowledge about Nye is very limited - only listened to his blurts on 'climate' - in that he shows no mechanical engineering 'expertise' - except an academic familiarity with the language.

and once anyone achieves the status of 'activist' then everyone of sound mind is REQUIRED to dismiss their 'projections' on 'why' things are happening or 'who' is responsible for the occurrence or 'what' to do about them.

Activists are good for only one thing - propaganda.

IF they were sincere, they would shun any 'active' association with 'activism.'

I know a Mechanical Engineer that thought that the . . .

I have been an aerospace engineer for 35 years of my long life - I have known some of the dumbest people on earth who were similarly employed.

BUT - I have also known some of the smartest people who were alive at the time. And far more of them than the dumb ones.

Best description of a bad engineer I ever heard = "He knows how to say about a dozen things. Every once in a while he'll say one of 'em for you."

And THAT was about one of our brethren who was being 'fast-tracked' to a management position.

We all cringed when he was making a 'presentation' - we'd check off the known 'managerial-appropriate slogans so that we'd know when he was about done.

First page of PT.

Buy and read a couple of Bastardi books. I don’t just read him. Bjorn Lemberg, and others too.

Keep watching Fox News.

Why? Does he write decent fiction? I cannot comprehend why I should read a book about science written by a guy who does not even understand the basic laws of physics when there is so much to be read by those who do. That would be illogical. Please explain.

Bjorn Lemberg
Lomborg? He doesn't even dispute the existence of man made global warming so I don't see the relevance here. Although I bet he thinks Bastardi is a moron.

What is the relevance of this? Would seem to imply Fox uses an imposter Bastardi, or that anything you say that reveals what a moron you are on FOX somehow doesn't count. Please explain.

Obviously you’re not interested in reading anything. I’m done wasting my time with you. Put your big boy pants on and get out of your mommy’s basement.

Oh please. You made that up, duh. I did not say anything remotely like that. I'd be interested to read things about science written by people who know about science, and that would exclude people like Joe Bastardi who have demonstrated they lack an understanding of the basic laws of physics. What don't you understand about what I just said?

Sounds like you're a little embarrassed by your inability to detect that Joe Bastardi is a moron who knows nothing about physics, which is in direct contradiction to your claim that armchair scientists are as good as the professionals. I have found most armchair scientists like yourself tend to get a little emotional when that happens.

Whenever you do put your ego back together, you really gotta check this out man! I bet you don't even know this, but Joe Bastardi ain't just any kinda weatherman. He's a "weather psychic" edit: looks like you need LSU Library access to get anything but the cover page, which is interesting all by itself. If you don't have LSU Library access, just tell me where to send a copy.
