President Biden on Friday suggested he would be open to waiting until next month to begin the Senate impeachment trial of former President Trump, reasoning it would allow more time to get his own administration "up and running."

Polling doesn’t look so good, I reckon.

EO factory seems to be running just fine since day 1.

They're all in on this? It's a losing proposition. Turtle knows that and is playing along.

The last thing Biden wants is the new cycle talking about anything other than him. It's a huge momentum killer for him.

This is exactly right.

And the polling will look worse for having an impeachment trial as time goes on.

Not only that but, by rule, the impeachment is the only business taking place in either chamber if it reaches the Senate and is taken up.

That means an early chunk of his administration where he can’t do anything legislatively.

What say so does the current president have in this? I know it's sort of uncharted territory, but I don't think he would have any involvement under the constitution.

If the Dems go forward with this, they’ll continue to allow OMB to live rent free in their heads and on the front of government media outlets. It’s so disastrous. As a conservative, I hope they push forward with it.

Why would Biden have a say at all at when an impeachment Trial would begin?

Impeachment is a function of the legislative branch.

Can you impeach someone who is already out of office? Why?

Most Constitutional law experts, including Alan Dershowitz, say no. The reason Dems are trying to do it is so they can bar him from running for POTUS again, which terrifies the shite out of them.

He doesn't have any say in the matter. This is basically just him giving his opinion on it.

His administration has nothing to do with the activity in the Senate. I want a trial and I hope Trump defends himself vigorously.

I think Biden knows if there is a trial Trump will suck all the air out of the room and become even stronger than he already is.

Biden still thinks he's in the Senate.
