The VC and Taliban had a Jungle and Mountainous terrain to act as a shield/barrier. Not sure that really exist here. The suburbs are nothing but flat open terrain that the Military would have a field day with. It would be ducks on a pond. Inner cities would be different though. I do laugh at the thought of a bunch of old overweight diabetic Baby Boomers trying to fight the Government. Look what happened at the Capitol several of them had massive strokes and or heart attacks just walking around.

Anyone nuking anything is unlikely, but the Feds have killed plenty of private citizens without due process and very few people have protested. I believe the DOJ argued last year that it is under the purview of the government to kill citizens as long as the "state-secrets privileges was appropriately applied."
The unfortunate truth is that large sectors of the populace would like it if the federal government directly persecuted the people they perceive to be their enemies. That makes much of the resistance talk ring very hollow.

I wonder how quickly these "elected leaders" who have never served in Iraq or Afghanistan would capitulate if we started using the tactics used against us in OEF/OIF on them.
For example, an Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP) which is designed to penetrate an MRAP, can be made using an empty keg.
What do you think ex-operators, ex-SEALs and ex-Rangers could do with enough imagination?

If it ever really came to it, I think the people he’s talking about potentially fighting the government would probably end up with access to plenty of tanks and military equipment.

What Jungles exist where there would be actual people to fight? What mountainous area with high populations? Most the battles would be out in heavily populated burbs or inner cities. Inner cities do pose a challenge but the burbs would be destroyed in short order.
Look at what happened at the Capitol. Boomers were literally stroking out exerting little energy. Multiply that on a bigger scale. The deaths from health complications would be off the charts
