this is happening anyway and a lot of it is fueled by public schools

California just passed a law that disruptive kids can't even be disciplined.

I would be very interested in seeing the actual cost of "free healthcare and "free post secondary education" along with student loan forgiveness.

So how much of your paycheck are you already donating to help people with their healthcare and education?

Or are you one of those people that is only "charitable" when the government forcibly takes your or someone else's money?

When did they stop paying teachers?

why shouldn't education be free
Its not. We (well some of us) pay isht ton in taxes for it.

If it valuable... why should it be free? Should golf be “free”. That isht is valuable isn’t it?

The idea that valuable, scarce and necessary things should be free is completely backwards.

If this were the case people would pay for it willingly — not only at the end of a gun.

K-12 isn’t free.

Just because people dont get a bill for it doesn’t mean they don’t pay for it.

I don’t think these two know what free means. They’re not free at all.
And in many places you have to pay for the “free” public schools— that you wouldn’t dare send your kids to if you love them.

The olin tip of that you get to pay for the private school you have to send them to because the “free”
schools aren’t worth a crap.

Why pay twice?

We pay for K-12 via state and/or property taxes

Hail,Hail is evidently one of those who are still in college, doesn’t work, doesn’t pay taxes (yet), doesn’t own property yet still gets to vote and tell others how their money should be spent. We have too many of these in our country thus our issues.

The main flaw in his statement is that K-12 is in fact not free.

I’m confused here as K-12 is certainly not free. Where do they think the money comes from to fund these public school districts?

K-12 school is free in the same sense that most highways are free unlike a toll road that you pay to use.

Why not life in general? Why have an arbitrary cutoff like college?

Did they include private schools too. State colleges are discounted already.

State/local vs federal is actually a pretty important difference.

Terrible comparison. People actually want to use toll roads. Imagine for a moment those "free" schools were suddenly like toll roads. You had to pay to send your kid there. How many would survive?
