These conservative pundits just need to sit back and chill. I hate that they HAVE to respond to everything.

Tywin Lannister and Stannis Baratheon were the only great leaders in Westeros.
But both of them traded that for their abilities as fathers. Only Randall Tarley was comparable to them in Westeros as being a worse father, and he was also brilliant about everything else.

Ned completely disregarded what was best for Westeros and its people for the sake of personal honor and elite power politics.
Who cares if he was an honorable man or good father? He was a poor leader. He allowed his actions to lead to a war that ravaged the land and killed thousands.
I would much rather my leader be a scoundrel that leaves the land prosperous and in peace than a paragon of personal virtue who gets us in war after war in the pursuit of his personal honor or sense of duty.
Leaders have a duty to their people above everything else, that is the greatest virtue. Ned never understood that and he was the story's greatest villain. frick the Starks.

And Tywin’s bad fathering is going to lead to the same if not worse. Tywin’s fathering may lead to everyone in King’s Landing dying if Cersei goes full Mad Queen. Ned’s fathering may unite the realm eventually, but Tywin’s frick ups have the realm that should be united completely at each other’s throats.

You know that Jamie will just kill her like the last one, but also himself simultaneously.

Sure but what led to this whole situation? Ned sticking his nose where it didn't belong. If he'd just minded his own business and done his job as Hand which was administering the realm instead of playing Kings Landing Dick Tracy none of this would have happened.

Ben is jealous Israel is not on the spotlight this week. The guy is the worst fricking Zionist people think is hip and cool. Cant stand him.

Well Littlefinger to be fair happened. If LF wasn’t there, none of this crap would have happened. Tywin was still dying eventually and his 3 children as well as his brothers and nephews would have instantly been at each other’s throats. Cersei was still in an incestuous relationship with her brother, where they would have to act against Robert eventually if they were going to survive.

I like this. We need a general Westeros political thread.

Shapiro has truly bad political instincts. He wants an outcome and seems like a child not to know that there is an extremely messy process to get there. For instance, he wants Free Trade but he doesn’t want us to use imperfect leverage to get it. He want a de- nuclearizes Korea but he doesn’t want to say the things necessary to get there. He’s an ethical/philosophy guy - like a Libertarian, great on the philosophical side, not so much on the actual governance.

quote:I mean he was looking into the legitimacy of a king who was more evil than his mother who murders her husband, Ned’s friend, and the previous hand, who was like a father to Ned. Obviously he misread Littlefinger, but even then, there wouldn’t have been a war if that illegitimate king wasn’t a sniveling punk and decided to execute Ned. Even his mother knew it was a bad idea and tried stop him.

And in the end, Ned’s decisions will probably end up leading to a better outcome than if the status quo was maintained.
Besides it’s would have made for a boring story so Ned did the readers and viewers a service.

That wasn’t as much about Field as it was about Bannon.

There are times when he seems like a "No True Conservative" guy. The people who think of themselves as philosophical purists always forget historical lessons about the broad coalitions necessary to win conservative majorities and conservative results in real world policy.

So 4 pages and OP provided not a shred of proof to back up his title.

Logic is great and wonderful and should be a primary feature to one's thinking.
Ben is a slave to it, like Mr. Spock. He leaves no room in his thoughts for imagination and weird illogical things that also operate in the world.
