Chinas over capacity is nothing more than state subsidized dumping with extra steps. Losses mount, capacity idles, then the five yr plans meets the harsh reality of basic economic. Supply demand never loses….

The Europeans.
Chinese branded autos have a 15% market share - outselling japanese cars.
They are inexpensive/cheap hybrids and all-electrics.
China is killing european auto makers.

CaptainFid,
This real estate mess in chini could be 60 trillion. They have 90 million vacant or partially finished units. I read an article about how it became such a mess:
The big construction company like Country Garden, who had over 1300 projects in 250 cities producing 700,000 units a year. They go to a local govt and say they need land for a project. The local govt sells them the land to be paid for in the future, then the local govt goes to the bank and gets a loan on the future payment by Country Garden.......so there are two notes on the project.
Then Country Garden gets a loan to start construction and also sells pre construction units to the public.......now there are four notes on the same project.
Then the economy slows and the banks and local govt lean on Country Garden. So they start fire selling the units that they have completed and so do competitors. Eventually some of the companies just filed for bankruptcy. So the consumers who did buy a pre construction unit that did get completed have seen their property value drop under water versus their mortgage, millions of others have mortgages on uncompleted units.
To continue to grow, even as the govt put in banking regs, they resorted to shadow banking, setting up investment funds who would then loan to the developers, who became insolvent and also screwed the consumer.
So its no wonder domestic consumption is so low on all items in chini.
And the govt does not have the money to fix it so its just languishing and prices continue to drop month after month.

Housing is a great example of why the free market is better than govt control. The Chinese govt thought they could lower house prices. They built 5-story housing complexes on cheap land in the middle of nowhere. Nobody wanted to live in them. So they're still out there rotting.

The EU is instituted pretty steep tariff on imports, unfortunately chini already has factories now within the EU which are not subject to the tariffs.

Chinas demographic problem is an interesting contrast to the U.S. because without immigration we would be having similar issues. That’s the real reason US corporations push for immigration. For steady growth you need a labor force and a growing population to consume goods
But I’m still against most immigration particularly from China, India, and the Middle East/africa. We have to protect our culture so immigration needs limited to legal immigrants only and only from Europe or Latin America due to Christian values and ability to assimilate. But really we need to be having more babies

It's also one of the fundamental responsibilities of government; why marriage and procreation should be encouraged. Ours doesn't do it enough. We'll, you know what I mean.

If they continue on this path, then China is going to have to fire cnbc.

Demographics are a bitch. Chickens have come to roost for them. They're probably around 850 million people and dropping
No country needs more than 200 million people. Anything over that number causes scarcity/disparity issues.
