Bad Candidates, Trumps mouth, Do-Nothing GOP Congress All Contributed

The worse thing that has actually happened is the GOP lost an election. It has happened before. I've been old enough to vote since the Reagan Administration and I've seen these political mood swings many times.
The GOP had a crop of bad candidates and their messaging sucked. The Dems stayed on point, were not afraid to engage in conservative media and the party did not hand pick their candidates.
Trump issued a ton of EO's because congress sat on it's arse and did very little once the Big Beautiful Bill was passed.
Trumps war with Iran and months of saying "they want a deal" drags on and on and it caught up with him.
People are tired of Trump and his antics. For every great thing he does gets dwarfed by the stupid shite he says and does. Even on this board there was a time when anything negative was said was met with huge blowback. Now is very different.
I suspect there will be a lot of resignations to get some distance from the administration. There will be firings. Hegseth may be a sacrificial lamb over this.

Whether this is the biggest contributor or not, it is certainly the thing that infuriates me the most. Republican Party are worthless losers. That's when they're "at their best"

It’s the end of the Trump MAGA movement and Republicans will no longer have to suck up to him and that’s a really good thing.

We probably won't man. The GOP cannot gain the Senate back in 2 years. The Dems have control of everything important for at least a decade.
This election was it. This was the one we needed to go in any other direction. If the Dems win the presidency in 2 years, you can kiss our freedoms goodbye.
We're pretty screwed. It's just a matter of time now.

With all the Republican messaging about men playing women’s sports the democrats must be really passionate about it to go and vote for men in women’s sports like that

What’s wild is democrats didn’t really have to do anything. They just let Trump and republicans shoot themselves in the dick repeatedly.

everything except the supreme court and the presidency for at least the next 2 years

Move away from the ledge! Look, campaigning is easy because you say shite that you have no intention of following through to get elected. Governing is a whole different thing. The Dems will find out how quick their shite won't fly.
The GOP get the luxury of sitting back and poking the party in power.

I'm just being honest. There is no way to look at the 2028 elections and come to a different conclusion. This was historically awful for this country.

Almost like it's by design.

Remember when trump won two years ago. Lots of posters here were saying it was the end of the democratic party.
Do not ever underestimate the ability of these parties to make a huge mess out of a good thing.
Congratulations to the republicans for ducking up their huge gains of two years ago.

And thus the "do nothing, swap power every few years" cycle repeats.

Those were Trump endorsed candidates that won the primaries. Trump’s policies, his candidates and he even inserted himself into the election… all of that was ripped to shreds by the American people last night. The 2006 midterms were bad but last night took things to another level.

It should have been. We clearly underestimated the stupidity of our citizens.

I get that. I don't know how old you are but this is not a new thing. The voters are saying they don't like how things are going and this was a "throw out the bums" type of election.
Trump won with a slogan "what have you got to lose?"..well, it's happened again.
2028 is a long way. The entire House is up every two years and I believe 34 Senates seats are up in 2028. A lot can happen in 2 years.
Live your life! Don't let this shite consume you....The Dems won't have party picked Presidential candidate this time and it will be a free for all with 20-30 people running destroying each other.

No one wants to work together and do what’s right for America. Everything is a fricking mandate to these yahoos instead of hey let’s figure out this shite together and make the place actually better.

This was an election where they couldn't say this. These were seats we could not afford, as a country, to give to the authoritarian left. We're looking at at least a decade of really bad things coming, and that's assuming we gain the will to fight for it at that point.

They're going to destroy our way of life man. There is no reason to be optimistic.

War in Iran. Who asked for it? Nobody. It is resoundingly unpopular. Did it anyway. Now we have $6 diesel.
ICE. Who asked for a bunch of 40-50 year old construction guys and fruit pickers to be chased around and shot and run over buy the government? I have not seen one Mexican cartel guy with face tats arrested yet?? That’s what everyone had in mind. Not trucks rolling up on the Home Depot parking lot.

We are one election away from changing that. If our way of life is destroyed, it is because the voters wanted it.
When these young voters hit 30 and find out how wrong they are they'll change.
