WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Southern California lawmakers who support legislation to discriminate against gays and lesbians now have one less hotspot to visit in West Hollywood. David Cooley, the founder of The Abbey Food & Bar located at 692 North Robertson Blvd., has announced the popular gay bar will add any legislator in any state who votes for “bills to allow for discrimination against LGBT people” to a “Deny Entry List.”
People, this is the free market at work.
One thing though, I'm getting tired of the narrative that this legislation is like Jim crow. This is not gov't sanctioned and publicly funded discrimination. This is gov't getting the frick out of the way of private businesses and their affairs when nobody is being hurt, stolen from or slandered/conned.

So much butthurt. Why are people pretending that this is even remotely ok? As a Christian, I disagree with Homosexuality as a lifestyle choice.
But this law is bullshite. Just because I disagree with something, doesn't give me the right to take it away IMO.
The entire point of this from the right was to overreact on gay issues and claim that its an attack on their rights. The only point in saying that, is to force an overreaction from the left.
Thats nothing less than provocation.
nonresponsive. move to strike.
sustained counselor.
witness, please answer the question.
yes, your honor.... [this is where you say something meaningful]

Huh? Not a hard concept. I disagree with Homosexuality, but I do not support any law or concept that takes freedom from anyone, when their acts are non-violent.
Who is advocating taking freedoms from homosexuals in this thread?
I'm advocating giving all Americans the freedom to choose who they associate with. That includes gays, blacks, Hispanics, etc. They can choose who they associate with as well.
quote:And my argument is that you should.
You do not have the right to choose to discriminate.
No one should be forced to do business with anyone, for any reason.
quote:True, but I think the premise behind it as it pertains to freedom of association is acceptable.
Not to mention, this bill has nothing to do with rights. Its completely political. They don't give one flying frick about rights. They care about causing a stir, and getting people foaming at the mouth.

Using state force as retaliation against people who do not want to sell you a product is taking freedom away and the definition of violence.
You don't have freedom or any right to privately owned products. It doesn't belong to you.

Dude, we discriminate every day of our lives even when we don't realize it. Discrimination is good for everybody of all races and both genders.

I see people bring discriminated all the time because they are not allowed into certain clubs in Vegas?

Based on what are they kept out?
Posted on 2/25/14 at 3:17 pm to JEAUXBLEAUX
The way they look and dress.

Let's say I'm a gay videographer. Westboro Baptist calls me up and wants me to shoot, edit, and do some CGI on their anti-gay rally.
In your world, do I have to do it?
this was not a rhetorical question.

Sometimes you have to take a stand in what you believe is right no matter how unpopular
Funny thing to say here. The only exception being a Christian taking a stand for what he/she thinks is right no matter how unpopular it is.

These places would now have the right to discriminate against those they disagree with.

Yeah, now there's a meaningful gesture.

I'm starting to think only the TD poli board could let this "debate" get to 20+ pages.
Y'all have topped texags.com. This is the place that keeps on giving.
