Right. Next thing you'll see is porn stars claiming "civil rights" violations because the local christian bookstore doesn't carry dildos.

You don't get it. No the kosher deli doesn't need to serve Ham and Cheese. But if a Muslim or Baptist or gay person wants what they are selling, they must be allowed to buy it. If I walk into a halal stand across the street, they cannot refuse to serve me because I am Jewish Just as the Kosher Pizza places on the corner cannot refuse to serve Christians (But the pizza sucks)
I cannot demand the local bodega sell Kosher food. I cannot demand Chik Fil A open on Sunday either. But I can demand that they serve if me I want their product.

The issue is that some of us disagree with the CRA in that regard.
The problem with saying that is that you are instantly labeled a racist or bigot, despite your reasoning. I could then say that I wouldn't discriminate, but because of my previous statement, any further comments would be considered a lie merely on the grounds that disagreeing with any elements of the CRA, despite your reasoning, means that you are a racist.
The whole discussion is pretty much one-sided with one group calling the other group racists and bigots.
Sadly, this topic falls under the umbrella of things it is impossible to have a discussion about. Preconceived notions are tough to overcome.
i can appreciate the libertarian argument against legislation like the CRA without crying racism. i think rand paul got in some hot water months ago for just this reason. he should have been able to make his case without those kinds of accusations.

Ohhhhhh,so you are saying that the baker doesn't have to sell a gay cake because he doesn't carry gay cakes?

There must be a middle ground where no force is used either way.
I do not believe there is.
As long as you have people who are willing to with hold services for people who don't share their race, sexual preference or hair color. Then you are going to need a kindergarten teacher (the big evil government) to make sure everyone plays nice.
This thread more then shows the issue with expecting every one to just play nice.

multiple times.
As written it allows people to pretty much turn down anyone based on religion.
You aren't wearing a scarf to cover your hair.
Then evil woman you will not ride in my taxi cab says the muslim driver.
It's a poorly written bill...and even several of the GOP senators who voted for it are back peddling hard and fast.

Interesting. What stood out to me was the fact that the language used mirrors the strict scrutiny standard. The standard that has been recognized by the US Supreme Court since 1938.
I guess you aren't a big fan of separation of the church and the state.

you'll probably get it your way.
Jan will likely cave to the ad hominem and straw-man attacks.

Social conservatives love to try using secular law to enforce their chosen religious values on others, but what they don't realize is, common sense (and the profit margin concerns of big business) has ways of shutting that whole thing down.

Again.
There is none.
Americans have let me down more then once regarding race relations.
There is nothing that I see in the near future that will change that.

I'm not worried.
Sometimes you have to take a stand in what you believe is right no matter how unpopular.
This however, isn't right and common sense will prevail.
Naturally it will take the all-mighty dollar to bring the governor to her senses.
