Back in the days of Ellis Island, prospective immigrants to the United States were screened for diseases before they boarded ships, several times during the voyage, and once they arrived in New York. Many were denied entrance into the United States while others were quarantined prior to admission. I highly doubt this is the case today as I've read articles that cities like Los Angeles have had outbreaks of Third World diseases like typhus, typhoid, and tuberculosis (all highly communicable) among their new inhabitants. These are diseases that would have been a proverbial "brick wall" 100 years ago, but don't seem to be much of a concern today. Fast forward to 2020 and it seemed the only people being denied civil liberties during COVID were actually American citizens.

Before the wife could even get an embassy interview to get her visa, she had to get her medical done in Manila. If she passed that, then she could schedule her visa interview to get her visa to come to the US. After all, the US govt doesn’t want anyone from another country coming here with TB or with any infectious diseases that could infect the US population. But I guess if you are an illegal and coming in illegally, you get a pass. Smfh
