Sounds like someone got their feels hurt and decided to quit. Why does anything have to be "going on" when high level people quit high level positions? Every person in a position of significance in DC thinks he/she is the smartest person in the room. They get the sads when they feel they aren't being listened to. Or they don't get their way. So they quit.
I'm sure this dude has a nice option for future employment. I expect he'll get hired by a defense contractor or similar entity for a lot more money and somewhere he doesn't feel so "disrespected". Quitting isn't some warning sign of anything bad. But the media and critics will spin it that way.

Sorry I have to correct myself. No one in charge of our military thinks highly of this administration, which are really the only people that matter. I’m sorry this hurts your feelings but it’s true.
