Here we go.
quote:

One source said the decision was unsurprising given tension between Driscoll and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

A second source familiar said that in his resignation, Driscoll “brought up concerns with the administration surrounding Army transformation and readiness and Hegseth’s blocking those efforts specifically by firing the generals who were responsible.”

An Army official said Driscoll “spoke to the president about the current state of the Army and submitted his resignation.”

The departure of Driscoll, an Army veteran and longtime friend of Vice President JD Vance, has been long rumored and comes after months of friction with Hegseth. It also comes six months into the Iran war, which shows no signs of ending.

No one in the military thinks highly of Hegseth or Trump at all. Hegseth is a complete fool.

Who said this? Still doesn’t change the fact that our military does not think highly of this administration, and particularly with Hegseth.

Exactly. LSU should have completely happy with Brian Kelly. He was much better than Curly Hallman. Can’t believe anyone disloked BK. Spoiled fanbase.

Wait so the Army is in the strait of Hormuz????

In all seriousness, 16 democrats backed his nomination, 16 democrats couldnt agree to ANYTHING regarding a republican nominee, something stinks.

This guy did nothing when his secretary was missing in action, nothing when the US Army became a staging area for trans awaiting surgery, but now when Hegseth is cutting the cancer he wants to speak out????

Both would do a better job then the current Commander in Chief and Secretary of Defense, because they would follow advise of the military experts instead of just thinking that they know more then people who have made warcraft their life's work. Calling Hegseth is a complete fool is an insult to fools.

There isn't much sugarcoating this one. Driscoll is resigning, as is his undersecretary, because he is at odds with Hegseth. Driscoll is a Trump appointee and also worked for Trump's 2024 campaign. He has been praised by Trump for his efforts to modernize the Army. Apparently Driscoll was so upset with Hegseth over Hegseth firing generals that he went directly to Trump to tell him he is resigning. He said that Hegseth's removal of senior leadership was harming the force and making it impossible to do his job.

I suspect these generals got their stars under Obama/Biden/Austin and their idea of "Army transformation" is probably decidedly different from Trump's or Hegseth's.
