It seems to be the way this is framed, pervasively. Perhaps some are calling for that, but I don't see it.

To me, the calls are for allowing teachers to arm themselves . This is an important distinction, in my mind.

It seems a lot of parents, teachers and students are against this.

It seems like a lot of parents, teachers and students are for this.

School districts should offer gun free schools and schools with armed teachers.

Let the parents decide.

It sounds like you're worried teachers will buy shitty weaponry.

NEW from Morning Consult/Politico poll: 50% of voters back allowing teachers to conceal carry vs. 43% who oppose. This includes 45% of independents & 39% of Dems

The left wing narrative is full of fallacies:

1. 'Arming 1st grade teachers is absurd'... No one has suggested it. All of the school shootings have been HS.

2. 'You can't force teachers to carry arms'... No one has suggested it. It's voluntary.

3. 'Arming all teachers is absurd.' ... No one has suggested it. 5-10 teachers puts a gun within 100 feet of a shooter in a 1,000 student school.

It's not just the MSM. The NEA and and AFT unions have promoted these falsehoods. The unions are not devoted to teachers. They are devoted to the Dem party.

I agree with your post.
But one note: Sandy Hook was an elementary school.

My bad. But that was an outlier. It's a HS problem.

Surely you're not suggesting leftists are misunderstanding their opposition's position.

That never happens.

Leftists intentionally misphrase and jump to extremes to discredit workable solutions. Why? I have no fricking clue, they are idiots.

But they stand on this false moral highground on every issue, not just this one. They make themselves completely irrational by arguing like 12 year olds, which is why many of them have lost all credibility

Reasonable person that wants to stop shooting deaths: "It may not be a bad idea to let those teachers that feel comfortable and adept to conceal carry. They could get training"

Idiot leftist: "You want to arm all teachers? You can't even trust a TRAINED SHERIFF DEPUTY but you want to let little old Ms. Dipshit to carry a pistol? She can't even teach our kids history!"

Reasonable person: "No I want people that are adep-"

Idiot: "Holy shite you are unreal! You want to kill more people by throwing guns into teachers hands who have no idea what they're doing!!!!"

Contd.

Idiot: "What can an UNTRAINED TERRIFIED TEACHER DO WITH A PISTOL VS An AR-15???"

Reasonable person: "Pistols do effectively the same thing as AR-15's, wouldn't be that hard to shoot someone.."

Idiot: "Yea throw more guns at the problem INTO TERRIFIED AR-15 VICTIMS!! THE SHOOTERS ARE NAVY SEALS!!!"

Why this is a bad idea: the teacher from today could have felt quite comfortable and adept to conceal carry, until today. Introducing a gun into a situation NEVER makes the situation safer; it always makes it more dangerous.

Dame could be said of police. Guess she shouldn’t arm them either.

They kill enough unarmed people out of fear that we can all agree they're not perfect - and a fairly good example of how even training doesn't remove the threat of unintended death when you introduce guns into a situation.
