How much capital are you willing to invest in preparing for an extremely unlikely event that would have devastating consequences?

For example, if you were building a bridge, what level of flood would you design for, 100-year, 500-year, 1,000-year, 10,000-year?

I think that if some communities want gun free zones, they should have them. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Because gun free zones are a federal law?

When the community decides for itself that the risk is high, they should take action.

Yeah, that works so well. Guess when they decide that a flaw in an airplane is too high to allow certain ones to fly? Yep, you guessed it. Right after one crashes and burns, killing a bunch of people.

quote:

For the record, I don't believe in 'security' as such, just risk management.

So then, do nothing. Risk management is exactly what is happening now. Just accept that our kids are essentially being advertised as soft targets for anyone evil, insane, or retarded enough to pick up a gun and slaughter them. Mop up the blood and guts, and wait for it to happen again.

Not sure why you would think I would claim that. I know the purpose of our armed services.

Really?

Maybe because you just said:

The government is incapable of protecting you.

You are likely smarter than this.

Is the Broward County Sheriff's office part of the armed forces of the United States?

Is the Broward County Sheriff's office considered part of the government in Florida, a State in the United States?

So no, you cannot trust the government to be there to protect you. Agree?

Are the armed forces part of the government? You don't trust them to protect you?

On the one hand you trust the government to protect you, then you claim you don't.

That's not a see-saw, that's called something else.

DETERRENCE. It doesn't matter whether teachers are armed or not. What matters is that the sickos believe that they might be.

Forgive me, I misinterpreted this:

quote:

I know the purpose of our armed services.

...to mean you actually trusted our armed services to protect us.

My bad.

My question now is this, if you don't trust the armed services to protect us, are you in favor of defunding the military? Because THAT would be a hot take.

You are insufferable.

You want specifics. OK. Fine.

I don't trust most government to protect me. I trust that the military is doing their job to protect this country of which I'm a legal citizen.

I support defunding the insufferable.

That's some equivocation, right there.

It's not extremely unlikely that another school shooting will occur in a school that is a gun-free zone. It's highly probable that another one will occur.

Lefties like you love spending taxpayer's money. Now, all of a sudden, you are not willing to spend the money necessary to ensure that our kids are safe when they are at school.

Lefties like you ALWAYS try to divert the discussion by making up an absurd scenario which is totally irrelevant to the scenario being discussed.

That mentality is precisely why there are 17 dead in Florida.

The mentality that a gun is the only thing that will save you is a big part of why those 17 people are dead, and the tens of thousands of others.

What is the police response time to that good area and your house when your alarm goes off?

Criminals don't usually invade houses with people present. They break into your house when you're gone, to steal your shite, and not get caught. If they are going to break into some house at night, it'll be an unprotected house. They go for easy targets.

Why are you so scared of this specific scenario, that will never happen? Have you seen someone about this phobia?
