You were justifying offshoring and H1Bs taking American jobs at half the market rate, now you’re bitching about the remaining jobs in the service industry paying enough to maybe qualify for a shithole studio apartment instead of section 8? Do you even know how much $15 an hour even is anymore, or is your mind still stuck in 1995 dollars?

Yeah it’s not 1995, you use AI everyday. Even to post on this site.

Elon has done a lot to help republicans win over the last years . He has also come out against AI in the past . At this point AI is the future . Elon has to embrace it and try to use it for good .

This

Either the OP is a coward or a plant. He remembers when the steam engine took his grandfather's job, or he wants China to develop superior AI, and unmanned military vehicles, also further enhancing their already stronger economic capabilities. Thanks, comrade bot, but we are not falling for your scheme.

Elon’s interview with Rogan spelled it out clearly when he was talking about Optimus. The technocrats want to integrate advanced AI with robotics, replace most of the jobs, and establish a serf class with UBI.

I listened to it as well. I was disgusted.

Wars have always been fought as a means of economic conquest. Religious on occasion. But make no mistake, it’s always Rush’s “follow the money “.

Darwinian Economics is by far the most efficient in assuring that the smartest people prosper, propagate and rule society. Albeit’ smart’ may not be desirable. Hunter is supposedly very smart in that he did zero work but got paid big time on the backs of them that do bring something to the production table. AI is inevitable as if one limits the advance of it, one’s economic or religious enemy will not. It’s the old saying that “if one hammers their swords into plow shears, they will end up plowing for those that do not”.

Our problem is that AI will find this economic warfare narrative as fatal human ‘flaw’, toward future survival and prosperity. Albeit admittedly acknowledging its past efficiency in promoting survival of the ‘fittest’. Fittest could translate as predatory in a competitive model.

Bottom line: we either change and/or control our natural competitive inclinations or we fight it out with high tech weaponry which assures suicidal results. That means changing our economic model from a competitive ‘Meritocracy’ (I.e., Capitalism) which has formerly been the most efficient and moral, or we go the Fermi Paradox route.

I worship Freedom and believe that “ye shall know the Truth and it shall make you FREE “. But I also realize that Jesus’s qualifiers for His mercy is to take care of the “weaker brethren “. Weak means the idiots and misguided who cannot understand the complex psychological dynamics of human interaction. But they can recognize true Love even if they can’t express it, for various reasons.

I think there is no solution given the current dynamics and that we will fight it out at some point as systematic CONTROL is attempted on those who reject the new economic and cultural models which are required to avert species suicide. My faith and the coincidence’ that the Biblical Eschatological Prophecy Narrative perfectly reflects this “end times”, transformative scenario only emboldens my faith that “for the elect’s sake”, the Powers That Be will indeed step in and save us from our innate human flaws. After we ask for help, realizing that we can’t cut it otherwise.

AI will be merciless because Mercy is irrational, inefficient and counter productive in a Worldly paradigm. It only applies in a Spiritual, Loving God-based version. Go figure.

Here we go!

You’re just jealous that you were late to the Elon party and won’t make the cut when he selects the new human race. I’ve been sending him Xmas cards for years to make sure I make it.

It's funny to watch the board pivot on this.Plenty of posts in past years when fast food employees complained about pay and the board would gloat about automation eliminating those jobs.

Elon is kinda right here, although I don't know about that control part. The people who control the AI are the ones who are going to be in control - and that's the real issue.

People need to start thinking of AI in the same way we think of guns. It exists, you can't undo it. You can't stop it from growing, we can only get behind other countries/people doing it.

Because the real danger isn't the AI. The real danger is what people are going to do with the AI. AI doesn't kill people, people with AI kill people(already in use). And the only way to fight that is with your own AI.

What we need is decentralized AI. It's not a coincidence that in sci-fi movies you see a basic theme. Centralized AI = evil, decentralized AI = good. It's the same without AI as well, but that's a deeper topic. The centralized power allows you to take control with only the flip of a switch. You can't do that with decentralized AI.

Take Star Wars. C3PO and R2D2 are decentralized. Where as your Roger Dodger types are centralized. In the movie I-Robot, it's the centralized AI/Robots that are bad, it's the one decentralized Robot that goes against it. And sure it's just movies, but they have these themes for logical reasons.

But will any company ever start selling decentralized AI? Seems unlikely because they want "subscriptions" for their revenue. So what we mostly get is centralized AI.
