Total BS. I want to see how they determine this because we all were food insecure in the 70s, but we also did not eat garbage food.
Check out the local food bank in your area. The people showing up don't need someone giving them food, but they will take it.
Same with Toys for Tots, Coats for kids. It is mostly a scam. I did a toys for tots delivery one time and that was all it took. 1 out of 10 recipients were legit.
Most of these families lived no worse then I did growing up. Dropped at one house walked to the door and their were 4 kids on the floor watching a huge tv eating pizza - no poverty, but they were on the list.

It's NGO terminology. I'm sure there are some hungry kids in this country. But 1 in 5?!
Not even Vegas is that generous with their odds.

Having a bunch of garbage food (pizza, chips, and cereal) isn’t “food insecurity”, it’s child abuse. Fresh food is incredibly inexpensive, you just have to give a damn and prepare it.

I bet you the momma's are not suffering from lack of nutrition. And they have new iPhones and their hair and nails did.

Crock of bullshite. Simple fact. Nobody starves in this country for any reason other than mismanagement or abuse by the head of household. Just watch fat person after fat person use their government food stamp cards at Walmart.

Yes, these people are too dumb and/or lazy to make their own food. So, they buy microwavable stuff and chips.

They have been pushing this statistic for years even though it's one of the most Brazen examples of and intentionally fraudulent conclusion ever created

If we quit feeding the world and rid the country of illegals we'd have plenty of money to feed the impoverished children but " food secure" shouldn't be the goal.
An empty refrigerator drives the slothful to work.

The average SNAP benefit is $187 per month per person. So a mother with two kids gets nearly $600 per month.
That's ridiculous. I don't think my wife and I averaged that per month raising 3 kids.

Have seen how many fat kids there are “living in poverty”
Posted on 7/1/25 at 11:02 am to trinidadtiger
Ten bucks says most of those food insecure kids are obese.

This is true but in a lot of cases it actually cheaper to eat crap then foods that are good for you. The food industrial complex has designed foods to pray on people's desires and have made them cheap on purpose.

I don't believe that at all. Too many 350 pounders walking around.

I believe exactly 0% of this statement
Posted on 7/1/25 at 11:41 am to trinidadtiger
It’s because baby-momma spent all the food stamps on skrimps and crabs. Then sold the rest for Kools and Hennessy. Word.

This is completely false. I can buy 1 pound of ground beef, 4 pounds of rice and 1 pound of red beans for less than what a large bag of Doritos, a box of Little Debbies and box of Frosted Flakes costs.
Walmart.com
Ground beef, 1 pound: $5.34
Large bag of Doritos $5.94
5 pounds of rice: $3.34
Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies (12 count) $2.97
Dried Red Beans 1 pound $1.87
Frosted Flakes $4.48

Bring back the modern version of the poor farm.

They’re about to be thin again. Normal thin. 1950’s thin.

Not a bad idea but good luck getting these folks to work for anything... I once thought hunger would motivate them but many of these folks would lay down and die before they put an ounce of effort into improving their situation...

I'd dare bet the highest percentage of "hungry kids" have a BMI of >30
