A few weeks ago AOC was the dems new frontrunner for POTUS…..

She’s the #1 idol of Milennial and Gen Z women(?) - the biggest threat to our future since there’s such a big gender gap among our generation. I really hope she’ll be the nominee so some of our retarded Facebook friends have to defend her policies publicly and watch them get torn apart

Yeah, good luck getting a skilled tradesman or business owner like a plumber, electrician, carpenter, car mechanic, etc. to work for tips...

That woman is nothing short of a simple minded idiot.

In theory [only] she has a point. Many will try just that.

But in a practical sense it is a big pile of poo and is a pointless argument.

- how does an employer swing that outside a service industry
- plenty of labor and tax laws on the books stop that in its tracks
- Obama added even more labor and tax laws in an attempt to increase tax revenues
- Then came Obamacare with even more regulations and "traps"

So taking that into account and comparing her theory vs. reality... this is simply uneducated, about laws from a lawmaker, fearmongering.

If only titties were brains.

Hyperbole.

But don’t kid yourselves. Having no taxes on tips will absolutely result in people taking advantage of it and converting how they’re paid.

I could see fast food places changing employees to $2.13/hour salary and adding automatic gratuities to all orders so they can say their employees are paid tips. Employee avoids income tax and employer avoids payroll taxes.

ETA: no taxes on tips essentially exempts bartenders, waiters, and a bunch of other service industry employees from almost all income tax liabilities. Thats bullshite. I know people who work in busy fine dining restaurants and make $100k as a tipped worker. Why should they get exempted from income taxes while someone working in an office making the same salary is going to pay $20-25k in federal tax? If they want to exempt tips from being taxed, then exempt all personal income from being taxed and replace it with consumption / sales taxes.

You think she'll go back to bartending now that it will be so lucrative?

It does make sense. We're broke as frick but we need to let rich little shits no pay taxes, all the meanwhile opening up a massive tax loophole?

Dumb as hell.

It makes absolute sense. How can anyone argue with that? If a simple law, without exceptions, passed, which made tips untaxable, then most private sector job would be restructured to include tips

No tax on income!?!?!

Sounds awesome and the way it should be.

What a dumb arse…..

Listen honey, not every job is a service industry job…. Being you were a bartender, I guess you think everyone’s job is like your past gig huh?

Side note: Maybe you should look into getting back into it…

No I didn’t. My argument was that a simple law canceling tax on tips would result in most jobs being supported by tips. That is true, and that’s what AOC stated. She was right.

I’m assuming that Trump and the Republicans would not pass such a law. But that doesn’t make the previous assertion wrong; it does makes it gratuitous, though.

I mean it is ludicrous to think all jobs will become tip based to avoid taxes, but if you are stupid enough to think people will abuse this system m, which is utterly stupid to begin with, then you truly are a MAGA idiot.

You know what's stupid? Continuing to spend like a Democrat (nevermind that 90% of what the federal government does is blatantly unconstitutional). Why is your default position that the wages people earn belong to the government. Your totalitarian bent shows through every time you idiots start discussing money.

I think you could easily make an exception that forced or mandatory tips wouldn't count as tax free. That's an obvious loophole that would need to be addressed.

If an hvac worker shows up to my house and demands a $100 tip after doing their work, I will laugh in their face as they're escorted off my property. What are you going to do, sue me for not participating in your scheme to lessen your tax liability? Great let's see how that works out for you.

This is what eventually will happen. An hvac guy shows up and charges $30 for a service call with a $100 tip added. Or $150 with no tip.

If my A/C guy presented me a bill with an added tip of $100 dollars, I’d write him a check for the service call only, tell him he did a shitty job and it’s not worth the tip….

I hope she is right. If people were paid based on the quality of their service or production the world would be a better place.
